Oh I think Arafat's death is to each a difference, by that I mean, we all have such differing opinions, which is wonderful, that's what makes the world go 'round. I do most certainly wish it opens the door to peace, but, alas, I somehow doubt it - perhaps I am cynical, but, as someone previously said, there is no clear leader to take on the role in Palestine of a peace-maker and the rest of the world doesn't seem able to intercede and pacify both sides. Unfortunately I don't think we'll see 'peace in our time'.

I'm sure that most Israelis would welcome an independent Palestinian state, as long as it brings peace to the region, doesn't take anything from them they're not willing to give, and is not run by Yasser Arafat.
At least now, they have a chance at it...

Here Here...
I agree with you 100% Woody. Look at the situation. If every single terrorist/militant lowered their weapons, there would be peace. If every Israeli soldier lowered his weapon, there would be a massacre. How many times in the past have we heard Muslim Clerics telling their flocks to drive the infidel into the sea? All Israel wants is peace. But they are not prepared to sacrifice the safety of their people, simply at a miniscule chance at peace.
I am unsympathetic when Palestinians cry and say that their jobs are lost and their land is stolen by the wall that Israel has built. Terrorist leaders have admitted that terror attacks are exponentially harder to carry out because of the wall. Call it a land grab, call it what ever you want. It may keep the "oppressed" oppressed, but it keeps the terrorists out as well.
