Oh, I just remembered another that gets to me.
Glory
There are several scenes that really choke me up, but the ending is just heartbreaking.

I watched Curly Sue the other day on channel 5 and that made me cry. I also had a movie on video once called 'Who will love my children?' now sadly deleted and mine went all fuzzy. I wish I could get that again. Lovely film about a woman with nine children who is dying of cancer and has to find homes for her children. One of whom has epilepsy. Made my hubby cry as well. If anyone knows where I can get a copy I would be very grateful.

My dog Skip always seems to do it for me.

Old Yeller too... but that was so many years ago.

Latest film to really hit home was Crash - one part of the film was so shocking that it brought immediate tears to my eyes - a strange reaction, but awesome.

Beaches is the biggest tearjerker of all time, together with Shadowlands - similar theme!

"Big Fish" made me really sob, embarrassingly so as no one else in the room seemed similarly affected. When I was a kid, the good-bye scene in the "Wizard of Oz" used to do it to me, too. Like I didn't know it was coming after a million viewings! People have been mentioning "Glory"...yes, I cried over that as well.

The movies that make me cry are:

My Girl
The Notebook
Jack Frost (When Charlie is building a snowman and the Fleetwood Mac song comes on, the tears start flowing.)
Steel Magnolias
Beaches
The Wizard of Oz
Heart and Souls (Near the end when Robert Downey, Jr. says goodbye to Kyra Sedgwick's character, that's when you realize they are really gone and aren't coming back.)
Walk the Line (When Johnny sees his big brother dying.)
What's Eating Gilbert Grape? (When Arnie finds his mom dead in her bed.)
Paulie (When Paulie says goodbye to his lady friend because she can't drive anymore.)

I am sure I will think of more later. This is all that I can think of right now.

AI - Artificial Intelligence - saw it in the cinema with my husband and we were both shedding tears at the end of the perfect day the robot boy David spends with his "Mom".. it was so sad..

I have never seen Old Yeller but I read the book and that was enough for me to know I could never watch the movie..

I also have not seen Little Women yet I cried in the original book series where Beth dies... "Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death..." gets me every time I read it..

I have a few movies that end happily that bring tears to my eyes. "Shakespeare In Love" is one of them though its ending isn't exactly "happy" but more realistic I think. Inspirational stories like "The Pianist" and "Apollo 13" always get me going as well.

In terms of tragedies though, I adore all things morbid for some reason. "Hero," the Chinese film from a few years ago, is really extraordinary. I love Zeffereli's "Romeo and Juliet" from 1968, with that magnificent love theme by Nino Rota. I love "Braveheart" too, mainly because of the fictionalized script and music by James Horner.

Most of Ang Lee's films break my heart, especially "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," and even moreso "Brokeback Mountain." I'm one of those straight people that cares deeply about this film and am grateful it was made. I'm definitely not ashamed to recommend this film to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Most films make me cry at some point!
I tend to get upset if anyone in a film gets killed (except the bad guy)
I even cried at Matchsick Men just because Nic Cage's character was crying (He was just such a poor soul!)

I cry in any movie or TV show where someone dies, or where anything bad happens to an animal. I avoid watching animal movies like Lassie because I just can't bear it when something happens to the animal despite knowing there will be a happy ending. Telling myself that "it's only a movie" has no effect whatsoever.

I have a copy of "Schindler's List" which I have never watched. Just can't bring myself to watch it.

oh MG you have to watch 'Schindler's List', it is one of the most powerful movies I have ever seen. Yes it will make you cry, it made me walk around like a zombie for three days. However, it is such a testament to how one man can rise above such pervasive evil, at great personal risk, that it's a must see.

I promise you'll be glad you finally watched it, MG. It is wonderful.
Just don't begin it when you're already down. This movie will finish the job for you, if you're not careful.

I'm not sure I could watch it. It brought my stepfather to tears and he couldn't watch more than the first half hour. If it broke a tough old guy like him, I'm not sure I could handle it. I'm a real softie.

I am not a big movie crier (I hate it and refuse to go to the movies if I know it is sad).

As such my list is short

The Green Mile
Edward Scissorhands
My Girl
Phantom of the Opera (musical)
Watership Down
Dead Poets Society

....and I had to admit this ....
Honey I shrunk the kids

Generally I think it is at the death of what I perceive as an innocent.

Steel Magnolias does it for me too!
Oh, and Con Air, when Nicholas Cage gives the bunny to the little girl....*sob*
