I enjoy using Firefox however I like playing online games at sites like Pogo.com and MSN Zone.com. Because Zone.com is Microsoft the site only lets you use IE. Is there a way of allowing Firefox to be used instead of IE. Inquiring minds want to know.

* Install this extension (A yellow security alert bar may appear at the top of the browser when you click 'Install'. Click on the bar and opt to allow permission. I've never had any trouble with anything installed from here.)

* When installed, close and re-open Firefox.

* Go to the Tools menu.

* Go into the User Agent Switcher menu and select: 'Internet Explorer 6 (WindowsXP)'

The sites mentioned should then think Firefox is Internet Explorer and let you play the games.

Thanks TW. I installed the extension, and Zone.com accepted firefox however to play the game I wanted it had to load Activex which the site said I couldn't do. When I used IE the Active X would load without any problems. Oh well I'll keep trying.

You can install the extension called IE View and just view that page in IE, then go right back to using Firefox when the game is done.

This is the best way to use those sites if they require ActiveX to work. There is an ActiveX plugin available for Firefox but I haven't tried it. Not having ActiveX capabilities is one of Firefox's security features. I read you are asked to enable ActiveX per site when the plugin is installed, which I suppose does make it safer. Even so, I prefer to travel the Net without it.

When you use the extension you choose whether you want to view it in IE or not, so I figure I can only enable ActiveX on sites that I trust. I have had no problems with the extension to far.
