iPod seems to be the trend in the portable music market recently. No other portable player comes close to it, from what I've heard. Now, I don't have an iPod myself but am aware of it's popularity since so many people my age have got one.
I don't need one but I'd like to know what iPod users think of this nifty little tool. What's the best thing about it? Is it all it's hyped up to be?

I'm not tempted to get one, although I do use iTunes online if I want a track and then later compile CDs for the car.

Unless you want to look like a Sony Walkman teenager all over again, then an iPod is not really practical, in fact it says "Come on muggers, not only have I got an expensive gadget, but I can't hear you creep up on me". The earphones are a distinctive white colour.

I really couldn't want 10,000 songs. I think these iPods are popular with the same folks you see texting all over the place and probably for the same reasons.

I totally agree with you Bossyboots. It's not necessary to buy things you don't need, especially when it's so expensive and you can spend that money on much more worthwhile items.

By the way, what's iTunes like? Do the proper songs always download (unlike most free mp3 downloadable places...), and can you find the song you are looking for most if not all the time?

Yes, blurrystar, you can almost always find what you are looking for on iTunes. There is a sample of every song in the collection. There are two downsides though, one of course is that you have to pay per song or album download. We are also niggled here in UK as we pay more than they do in USA who also have a larger collection.

Secondly they are in a format which discourages copying to CD. However, there are several conversion programs to MP3 to get round that, and I have some really good CDs made up mostly from iTunes.

That said, the quality is very good and full length, unlike some of the free sites. Definitely worth installing and hunting down stuff you can't find for free elsewhere.
