Can anyone recommend a free or shareware registry cleaner that doesn't require a good knowledge of working with the registry? I've checked out a couple programs, but once they've read my system and try to tell me what's wrong, my eyes start to glaze over...

Thanks

RegSeeker is one that I've used for a few years now, both on Windows 98 and XP. It makes a backup before deleting entries. It's never removed anything from the Registry that is needed for my computer. I have to say though that we all take our chances when altering/deleting Registry entries. There is always the backup it creates if anything should go wrong. If you are running XP, create a restore point before using the program ...just to be on the safe side.

Thanks Tellywellies, I'll try that one.

I made System Restore my friend when I was using my older computer with Windows ME on it. Saved my life on several occasions.

Now, if only you had several weeks to help me with THAT mess of a computer...tried to network it with this new one and I can't get it to even boot up completely. Only in safe mode, and then I can't get online to get to any diagnostic stuff. Anyway, that's a whole other post.

Thanks again
