Will Eisner, best known as the creator-artist of "The Spirit" has died at 87 (on my birthday, Jan. 3). He was one of the most influential comic artists of the past century and besides his "Spirit" strips he also pioneered today's graphic novels. He also wrote on the history of comic art.
