How many palindromic words (words spelled the sames forwards and backwards) do you know that are not only made up of Roman numerals, but also add up to the same amount in those numerals forwards and backwards? One hint: one of them is an acronym.

I can think of civic! Oooh, and 'did'. Brain dead after that, though...

Lil, if you accept slang? Civic doesn't really follow standard roman numeral rules though, does it? Mim as well if you allow acronyms

No, I was talking about the order really, you know, small letters come last, unless used for subtraction, so using the letters in civic, you would get ciciv or ccvii or cvcii, none of which are pallindromes, but then, that's the nit-picker in me talking.

Given TJ's criteria - Gats is right with DID - adds up to 1001. So there's one!

and let's try LIL as in L'il Abner- at 101
and there's a VIV acronym- at 11

I don't have a palindrome, but their are plenty words you could make using Roman Numerals and sometimes subtracting them.Like livid, lid etc.

Just so you know L is a Roman Numeral it usually equals 40.
