I can't be the only one who has had more exposure to classical music from cartoons than anywhere else (despite my Mum's efforts). THe one I remember best is the Barber of Seville from a Bugs Bunny cartoon and of course Fantasia is possibly one of the better known ones. Brilliant stuff

Here is a good site with lots of the music named from the Warner Brothers cartoons.

That's a good site. My first "real" exposure to classical music was my freshman year of college, when I took a music appreciation class. It was so funny to me when I recognized pieces from Looney Tunes cartoons--and nowhere else! (I had no idea Beethoven composed for Warner Brothers... ) Since then, I've tried to broaden my knowledge of and exposure to classical music. There's some really incredible music out there.

Among the classical tunes Warners used in their cartoons are Smetana's "Dance of the Comedians" from his "Bartered Bride" opera, used for the Road Runner series, Mendelsohn's "Fingal's Cave Overture", used to accompany the crow's walk in the Inki series and, of course, Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody, which Bugs played in "Rhapsody Rabbit". Opera itself was brilliantly spoofed in "Rabbit of Seville" and that riotous take-off on Wagner "What's Opera, Doc?"

Well it seems Warner Bros. went from having classical music in its cartoons to having futuristic, creepy new characters! Check this out: Looney Tune-Ups

I don't like the new Bugs Bunny version! They should just stick to the original characters...

By the way, I agree with Copago, "Fantasia" is a wonderful movie

I remember a simply wonderful animated version of Saint-Saens "Carniveaux des Animeaux", I think featuring Daffy Duck and Bugs in the orchestra.
