Great memories reading through the list of songs that were chart toppers on the day people entered the world.

Unfortunately I think I'm too old for N0 1's in this sense. I think the modern charts began with Al Martino having a number 1 in 1950 something. I preced this and suspect I'd have to look for sales of sheet music.

Enjoyed recollecting what I was doing or might have been doing as some people
came 'helpless, naked, piping loud' into the world.

Gads, I didn't realize how old I really was! Popular on the day I was born was:

1. Monster Mash-Bobby "Boris" Pickett and the Crypt Kickers-US
2. Telstar-The Tornados-UK

Guess that explains why my favorite holiday is Halloween! Well, that and I was born in October.

On the day I was born the top songs were "Moonglow" and the "Theme from Picnic" on the U.S. charts. My Life's theme song was "The Streak" by Ray Stevens - how awful!

well it didn't start out well, the UK one was 'The Power Of Love' - Jennifer Rush, which I have never heard of

but it rapidly got better, because the US one was 'Take on me' by A-Ha which I love for some obscure reason

Couldn't resist doing the life theme song, and came up with:
UK: 'Where is the love' -Black Eyed Peas
US: 'Baby Boy' - Beyonce

One is a 'yay', and the other a definite 'nay', but I won't tell you guys which one is which

Dearest Agony - Just went back and read thru all the posts and - lo and behold - we seem to have been born on the same day, at least we have the same #1s. June 21, 1957? I guess it would be odd if I had been the ONLY baby born on that day, but it was a jolt to find out that on some level I must have been thinking just that! Belated welcome to the world, sorry I didn't manage a greeting back then but I was occupied with sundry events such as getting born, etc.

Mine were Diana (Paul Anka) and Honeycomb (Jimmy Rogers). Never heard of the second one. Theme song - Sailing by Rob Stewart. I can live with that.

Spookily, I've just put the finishing touches to a CD for my brother's 50th birthday today. I've tried to get all the no. 1's for each year on his birthday. I've used both charts and sometimes I've had to go to the best selling record for the year because the No. 1 on his birthday was so awful. The CD kicks off with 'Memories are Made of This' and finishes with 'I Want to be a Punk Rocker With Flowers in my Hair' (No. 2 at the moment, but I thought it appropriate and the No. 1 is simply terrible).

I've made the covers from a montage of photos of him growing up. That and a bottle of 'Old Git' wine will do for a present.

Mine was "I want to hold your hand" by The Beatles in U.S. charts. It was the first Beatles single to rich this position.

U.S.- "Black or White" Michael Jackson. Hm.
U.K.- "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me" George Michael & Elton John.
Is it just me, or was I born on a bad day in music?
