For me ,it was The Everly Brothers with All I Have To Do Is Dream in the UK while in the USA ,it was The Coasters singing Yakety Yak .This might be why I'm more of a dreamer than a talker !

This IS an awesome thread. I never checked what it actually was in all my times passing it by. Oh my, posting under Daboosh certainly makes me feel ancient!

Day I was born:
US: "All Shook Up - Elvis
UK: "Cumberland Gap" - Lonnie Donegan

Day I turned 18:
US: "He Don't Love You Like I love You"
Tony Orlando and Dawn
UK: "Oh Boy" - Mud

I have never heard of either UK song or artist. Perhaps it is senility setting in, or it might already be here. Sandy

I've actually done a quiz about my birthday number ones, and the day I was born and my 18th in the UK are two of the questions, so I'm not giving those away! But in the US on the day I was born was "Alley-Oop" - Hollywood Argyles and in Australia "What A Mouth" – Tommy Steele.

Day I turned 18
US: How Deep Is Your Love - The Bee Gees
Aus: Same as in the UK! ;-)

You know what might be quite interesting to add to 'day you were born' song and '18 year old' song?

Being able to figure out what song was #1 when you were conceived by your parents!

Might make for some amusing speculation.

I know it's virtually impossible to pinpoint the exact day you were conceived, but I went back exactly 9 months to the day I was born and what song was #1?

"The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" - Charlie Rich

Oh lordy...I can just imagine my father trying to get all romantic with that song playing in the background...

Better yet...I should try NOT to imagine it...my parents are virgins...they've NEVER had sex...the stork dropped me off...yeah, that's it!

Using the 9 month reverse:

UK: Here Comes Summer - Jerry Keller
US: The Battle Of New Orleans - Johnny Horton
AUS: I’ll Never Fall In Love Again – Johnnie Ray

Hmm

My songs were -
Australia:Wake me up before you go-go
US was the Ghostbusters Theme and UK was Careless Whisper. I kinda like the Australian one the US one is OK too. Never actually heard of the UK song.

In Australia the song which was number 1 when I turned 18 was A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton. I think I know it but am not sure.

UK is Colourblind by Darius - don't know this one

US is Dilemma by Nelly and Kelly Rowland - don't know this one either. Just shows that I like my old music better than the newer stuff.

UK-I'm Alive by The Hollies

AUS-Fool, Fool, Fool by Ray Brown and the Whispers

I just did the going-back-nine-months/conception song search. Yikes. It was "You Ain't Nothing But A Hound Dog", by Elvis. Naturally, this gave me these (unsettling) mental pictures of my Mother being romanced by my Father, that lilting little ditty in the background ...

Y'know what's really especially disturbiing about all of that? I actually can picture them getting all lovey-dovey over a spahetti dinner and a bottle of house wine with Presley somewhere in the midst of it ...

I really do know what day I was conceived. Jan 20, 1969. Nixon was sworn in as president and my dad started a new job. The song:

I Heard It Through The Grapevine - Marvin Gaye

Birth: Sugar Sugar - The Archies
