Have you seen this? www.thisdayinmusic.com

It shows you what was No.1 in the charts on the day you were born. (Go to Birthday No.1 at the top of the site).

My number 1's are
'You're So Vain' by Carly Simon in the US
'Long Haired Lover From Liverpool' by Little Jimmy Osmond in the UK

Loads of other good fun music trivia on the site as well.

Hey! I don't think my "life's theme song" should be Hot in Here by Nellie!

SM you think that you are old, they didn't start the charts until years after I was born. As for Ren (when she gets here) they were still waiting to invent the wheel when she was born.

Well sue, we always knew you were older than dust bunnies, and I think you and auntie ren were separated at birth. You just won't admit it.

What an insult, I will have you know that she is 8 years older than me!

I can sing a bit of the Love Letters in the Sand, don't rememberthe other one.

Our local radio station often names the #1 when wishing listeners a happy birthday, it must say something when I can sing a snatch of all the songs prior to the 70s.

I'm another one who was born before the charts were invented. Maybe that's just as well: I suspect the No 1 would probably have been something ghastly by Vera Lynn.

What a letdown, the song that was number 1 in both the U.K. and the U.S.A charts the day I was born was "I got You Babe" by Sonny and Cher. Lol, I have never been able to listen to more than 10 seconds of that song. Mmmmmmmm strange but nor have my parents.

I guess my day of birth was an Elvis Presley kind of one.

U.S.: Let Me Be Your Teddy Bear. ?. Never heard of it.
U.K.: All Shook Up.

I likely just barely made the cut off date, I reckon .

I did already know that in the UK "The Wonder of You" by Elvis was number one on the day I was born, rather sweetly this was already a special song for my husband and I, as he took me to see a play called "Cooking with Elvis" on our first date, and the sequence featuring this song was the funniest moment by miles.

In the US..."(They Long To Be)Close to You" by the Carpenters, I'm now imagining Artie Ziff, Marge Simpson's prom date singing it

Heh, hardly one hit wonders! Peaches and Herb have been around since the late 60's but were biggest in the late 70's--disco era. "Reunited" was probably their biggest hit (very popular at school dances), also "Shake Your Groove Thing" (now there's a disco classic!).
There've actually been several "Peaches", only one Herb though.
I think they're still around, playing clubs and lounges, that sort of thing.
But if you were born the year "Reunited" came out, I'm not surprised you haven't heard of them.

This link plays clips if you want to hear:

No, I can't see that one going down in the annals of Music history as an all time classic, not surprised that a younger person wouldn't have heard of it. Actually, it's interesting how many of the songs people HAVE heard of - oldies radio, maybe? Is it possible that we Boomers have been imposing our culture on the younger generation? Surely not!

Yes, I've had the idea for some time that you can tell how old the people who make tv commercials are by the songs they use. For the last few years I believe they've been around my age--I'm having lots of flashbacks...
