Round 12 Results
There were 8 participants this round
1. A Word containing 3 consecutive vowels 10: Beautify, Fleeing, Gateaux, Milieu, Onomatopoeia (not just 3, but 4!), Seeing, Sequoia, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
Everybody got 10's in this one, with a nice variety of words. I hadn't encountered the word 'Gateaux' before, but a quick search on google convinced me I should make an effort to encounter them in the future (the word refers to a type of cake).
2. A Bridge Bid between 1 Spade and 3 Spades 10: 1 No Trump, 2 Hearts 5: 2 Spades (5 people) One answer was not accepted.
My apologies to everybody for what was probably an overly difficult question (especially if you wanted to find an answer other than 2 spades). For the curious, the bids in bridge go: 1 club, 1 diamond, 1 heart, 1 spade, 1 no trump, 2 clubs, 2 diamonds, 2 hearts, 2 spades, 2 no trump, 3 clubs, ... etc.
3. An Instrument from 'Peter and the Wolf' 10: French Horns (representing the Wolf), Timpani (representing the Hunter) 5: Flute (representing the Bird, 2 people), Oboe (representing the Duck, 4 people) Unmentioned: Strings (representing Peter), Bassoon (representing his Grandfather), Clarinet (representing the Cat)
'Peter and the Wolf' was originally composed by Prokofiev as an introduction to the orchestra for children. Although the original debut was not a success, it has gone on to become quite popular.
4. A team seeded #1 or #2 in the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament 10: Duke, Illinois, Kentucky, Oklahoma State 5: Connecticut (2), Washington (2) Unmentioned: North Carolina, Wake Forest.
Duke and North Carolina would also have been acceptible if I had asked about the women's tournament instead of the men's. There's a tipping competition going on next forum over if you want to make your predictions as to tourney results.
5. A Nation Bordering France 10: Andorra, Belgium, Germany, Italy 5: Spain (4 people) Also acceptible: Luxembourg, Switzerland
Final Scores: 45: Littlewoman, Mugaboo 40: Exit10, Ozzz2002 35: Elftwinkle 30: Cinnam0n, Gatsby722, Kuu
Thanks to everybody who participated!

Thanks to the vagaries of world time, it is already the 17th here, so here we go with Round 17. Good luck, all!
Q1- Name a category that features in the "Who's Smartest?" hourly quiz tournaments.
Q2- What is a national capital and country that both start with the same letter (eg, Georgetown, Guyana)?
Q3- Give me a three letter word with the pattern 'consonant-vowel-consonant', where all five vowels can be substituted to make a real word. An example would be 'bag, beg, big, bog, bug'.
Q4- A type of electronic communication between two or more people.
Q5- Any team that won their match in Round One of the 2005 NRL (Rugby League) season that kicked off last weekend.
Results will be posted sometime Saturday, Aussie time.

He is Round 16. Late by Australian time but on the right day American time I ask people to excuse if I repeat questions that have been posted before. Because of real life time constraints I don't get to come to Fun Trivia as much as I did so I don't see every question asked. ROUND 16 1) A illegitimate child (reputed or acknowledged) of King Henry VIII of England. 2) A movie filmed in New Zealand 3) A country that was hit by the tsunami on the 26 Dec 2004 4) An island located in the Bass Strait between Tasmania and Victoria (you might have to go to a map for this one) 5) A victim (not a possible victim) of the Zodiac Killer.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Here is Round 18. 1. Let us pretend that plastic surgery is both free and painless. What part of your body would you have worked on? 2. According to CNN/Money Magazine what is one of the top 6 most expensive colleges in the U.S.? [1st year full time students; tuition only] 3. Not much of a golfer myself but was wondering a Masters Tournament winner from 1994 to the present. 4. A movie released in the 1990s in which the late River Phoenix was in. 5. Here's the Google one : Baseballer Mickey Mantle opened his own restaurant in NYC - named, of course, "Mickey Mantle's". Name an entree that is available on 'The Little League Menu' there (for kids 12 and under). Have fun and see you on Sunday!
