Dragonfly was the name of a horse I used to ride and the numbers have to do with the places I have lived.

I have been a follower of advaita, an Indian teaching (originally) which claims to have the quickest route to spiritual enlightenment. The satguru is the inner guru we all share, and which the teaching points you toward. Once you discover your satguru from an outer teacher you begin the path to enlightenment. The translation from Sanskrit is sat=true guru=teacher, and means your best teacher is within you.

My ID comes from my (now) 11 year-old neutered male collie, Dakota. His name on his AKC registration is Dakota North and South, so I just took the first two parts of his name.

This topic has been done before (a long time ago) but it's nice to see it come up again so we can learn about some of our newer members. I'm simply going to "copy and paste" what I wrote in the old thread: "Mother Goose was one of my nicknames at school. It was based on my surname at that time. I absolutely hated it when I was in primary and high schools but learned to live with it by the time I got to university. Now I have grown accustomed to it, perhaps even grown fond of it. I think I started to accept it when I discovered that my uni friends spent an entire day in the city, searching every card shop they could find until they found a 21st birthday card for me which said 'Hang Loose Mother Goose'. Then I realised it was a term of endearment and not just an obnoxious nickname."

Well, ever since the invention of the internet, I've been using LeoDaVinci as a name... and that's quite a while. I remember back in the 5th grade, oh so many years ago, when I did a research project on the guy. I then decided that if I could be anybody in history, I would want to be Leonardo Da Vinci, as his impact on it was pretty immense, and his talent was unparallelled.

My nickname in college was Seinfeld. I suppose that I resemble him a bit, and I tend to have his sense of humor. When I started playing NTN in the bars, I used this nic, and I've used it ever since. For those of you who assumed it was the river, it's spelled Seine...lol. I get that a lot.

This all fascinating guys. I think it's great that we are all, for the most part, pretty creative and thoughtful when it comes to our names. Thanks for the great response!

Significance of my name? Well, it's a long looooooooong story. My first name is James, my middle initial is C, and my surname begins with a B. Lack of imagination, I know. It's different on other places.

I am about as creative as you are James. Chris is the shortend version of my first name (Christiane). And the 1013: well, if you're a fan of the "X-Files" you'll know this number

I absolutely hate my first name Ursula, and I stopped using at 15 and started using my second name Karen instead. Reversing the names made my initial KU and that become my nickname among my husband's family. I started spelling it Kuu when I found out Kuu was the Finnish moon goddess.
Many people only know me as Kuu.

I originally used my actual name, partly to be a bit different (no one uses their real name on the internet), partly in case anybody recognised me and partly to show I wasn't afraid to use my real name. Then I thought people's user names told a bit about the person, so I changed. Eraserhead is a David Lynch movie which is either one of the best or one of the worst movies I've ever seen (I'm still not sure). I am also 33 years old

I'm a fan of the Detroit Tigers (insert your condolences here), and always thought that Alan Trammell would one day become manager of the team. Hence when he did, I combined his nickname "Tram" with the abbreviation for manager "mgr", and just like that, "trammgr" was born!
