Does anybody have any advice on searching for a missing person? In my case, my grandmother disappeared when my father was five years old. No one has heard from her since 1962 when she was badly burned in a house fire. Any advice would be appreciated.

I can offer lots of useful information to those who live in the UK or here in Jersey. If it is the UK let me know and I will give you the information.

Dragonfly,

I don't know where you're from, but there's a group in the US that may be able to help you. They do excellent work here's the site:www.doenetwork.org .

I think they are still taking submissions from individuals, but you'll have to check and make sure. If they aren't, please let me know and I'll put you in touch with my friends on another group.

Would that be Cleveland in the US or in England? People from this site live all over the world so please don't automatically assume that we know where you are talking about especially when you don't give a location under your name.

If no formal report has been made, many Missing Person's organizations won't take on the case. It's not too late to file a formal report. I know that Doe Network won't put a profile unless a missing person's report has been filed with law enforcement.

When I get home, I'll ask my friends where you should start. There are some groups that may be able to offer you advice if nothing else. With your permission, I'll PM their contact information.

Edited to ask: In which year was she seen in Cleveland? As Sue asked, is that Cleveland OH, USA or Cleveland somewhere else? I can search some databases, but without firmer details, it's difficult.
