Break the code then post one.
I could have placed this in the challenges but maybe there are enough people that like breaking codes to turn this into a chain game thread.
The only rule is that it cannot be more than a three step code, otherwise it could be too difficult.
Which country does the following code refer to?

13 26 7 8 18 16 26 11

Well, multiple "yikes". I don't have a bit of a clue how to figure that one out. Can you make it a bit clearer, roos? What kind of code? Keep in mind, we ain't all that smart here.

I changed it slightly, it should be easier now.
Pen and paper will help.

Don't give up on it yet, roos. I'm intrigued by it.

What gatsby722 said!

Is the answer PAKISTAN?

I'm trying to work backwards, without much success.

ok, now explain it!

This is as far as I got, aka as far as I could go - split the word in the middle so that the +/- are mirrored in each half:
    Code:
               P A K I | S T A N
    actual 16 1 11 9 | 19 20 1 14
    clue 13 26 7 8 | 18 16 26 11
    movement -3 -1 -4 -1 | -1 -4 -1 -3

Hmm, Gtho, you didn't happen to work for the CIA or anything did you, NASA maybe?... How in the heck (pardon my French) did you manage to unravel that?

This could become a fascinating Chain. I'll have to unlock the parts of my brain I never use! I can't wait to see a new code to unravel. Well done, gtho4 ! I knew it had to do with letter assignments but I would have never figured it out.

I got lucky - an hour or so with an atlas (in front of the tv watching CSI, lol), listing all countries with 8 letters; and then a game of 26-pick-up with the alphabet and a calculator!

.

Which country does this code refer to - using DSR's system, this is a 2 level code (I think):

N H S D F B

.

[ some trivia: everyone can count backwards from 26, how many of us can recite the alphabet backwards -- I can't; but I watched some kids on tv a few months back -- they didn't miss a beat ]

hmm, DSR might be right, this is too hard.

some clues:
- it's the same theme as DSR's, but the movement is not a split-mirror.
- DSR's movement was all -ve, this one is all +ve.
- the movement is an increasing number sequence (run in reverse).

I got the answer to DSR's code but used a different method to gtho4.
The way I worked it out was to number the alphabet backwards so A=26 B=25...Z=1. When I wrote down the letter corresponding to each number it spelt out Natsikap which when spelt backwards is Pakistan.

gtho4 I think that in order to break your code we would need another key. there are too many unknowns if we were to use the method you used to break DSR's code.

But I'm not giving up yet.....

yep, you're right.

- the number sequence is prime numbers.

wtg on the method you used to solve DSR's!

Norway via the shortest direction is all prime (apart from the zero), but doesn't fit one of the clues - the movement is all +ve.

Code:
           N O R W A Y
code N H S D F B
movement 0 7 25 19 21 23 (one direction)
movement 0 7 -1 -7 -5 -3 (shortest direction)

I think I can start one.

18// 36 // 40 // 30 // 28 // 30 // 26

The above numbers are codes for alphabets. Once you decode them, it is a part of the Computer.

The above codes are jumbled.

Actually, you have to solve the previous code first before you can post a code of your own...
