Not sure how but I am online again. OK for the curious, I have bacterial endocarditis which caused my stroke. Today they have found a heart murmur. A nuisance. Hmph, some people are so envious of me having a rest that they felt compelled to wake me at 6am!

Glad to see you back, Sue, even though it's only here or there. Better to have you come back a little bit at a time..........It'll let you get used to Ren again rather than having her bog you down with insults all at once! All joking aside, it's wonderful to "see" you back. Even though I don't know you well, I (and everyone else too) have been pulling for you this whole time. Here's to a speedy and continued recovery!

Hi Sue!
I just caught up to this thread. So sorry to hear of your stroke and having to stay in the hospital. I am glad they found out why you had the stroke. I wanted you to know I am thinking of you and wishing you a fast recovery!

Update on Sue: She has gone off to St George's, Southampton for her kidney treatment, a long standing appointment. I guess it is a good sign that the docs allowed her to travel. She should be back at Jersey Gen next week, hopefully without stones. She has been so bowled over with the wonderful messages and cards and flars. I am sure she will answer you all soon as poss.

Hi,
Sara's post is only partially correct I'm afraid. Mum has indeed gone to St George's Hospital (but in Tooting, London) but nowt to do with the kidneys I'm afraid. She has two leaky heart valves and they appear to be worsening so she's gone off to London for surgery to replace them and to remove the matter from the infection. They're hoping to wait 3 weeks until the antibiotics course is finished so there's no risk of reinfection of the new valves, but will operate sooner if she deteriorates. At present she feels absolutely fine and will hopefully stay that way until the surgery.
She's instructed me to tell you that she had great fun on the way over: they whizzed her the hospital in an ambulance with sirens blazing (not quite sure why - it wasn't an emergency but it livened up the proceedings!) and she had a rugby playing male nurse as her escort on her private plane and was met at the airport by Special Branch demanding to know who she was! However she's sorry to leave the George Cloony lookalike consultant and the new one isn't quite up to scratch! And the food's awful!
Anyway, she'll be there for the next month or so and will be out of phone contact - I'll update as necessary.

Oh my goodness! Thanks Vicky! I got it all wrong. I had been phoning her patient phone and the nurse picked it up. When I asked, she said Sue had gone off to St George's for her treatment. I assumed (that'll teach me) it meant the kidneys . How wrong can you be? I was already in a state as no one answered the phone until I called five times. I am really sorry I misled everyone. I hope Sue comes through this OK. Poor soul too!

Hi,
I've just spoken to mum (no change) and she's asked that I ask people no to call her - she doesn't have her own phone and the nurses get arsy if people use the ward one. She does appreciate calls but wants to stay on the nurses' good side as she's there for a month!

I wouldn't worry - I'm sure she appreciates it, the nurses are just grumpy! I'm sure she'd be pleased to see anyone who's nearby.
Cheers.

Hi Vicky, Please is there any news on how your Mum is doing? As we can't call and we all live so far apart it is nice to get a update. I know she is getting the best of care but still we are concerned. Please tell her that her presence is missed here and other places. Hope to hear soon on how she is doing. Thanks, Purple Fan

Dear Sue,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It must have been really hard for you, especially since you were in the hospital. I am glad to know that you have so many great friends that were there for you.
I was also sorry to hear of your stroke. I do hope you will recover soon. I can tell that many people are missing you during your absence.
Sending you light and love, JoJo

Thanks JJ That is a very sweet thought. I am about to print the next group of messages on this thread, to post to her. She will appreciate your kindness I know.

A quick update on Mum: the docs have gone from 2 valve replacements to no surgery at all, she's off the IV antibiotics and on to oral and, best of all, is probably being transferred back to the hospital in Jersey on Saturday. She's a very happy bunny (although less than pleased about the woman in the bed opposite having MRSA!) and is preparing to order large amounts of food from the chef!
I'll let people know her phone number in Jersey once I know it. Thanks again for your thoughts.

Thats Great News!! If she's talking about eating large amounts of food, she must be feeling better. Give her my best wishes...but bunny is not the way I would describe Sue, would you agree Ren?
