Hi - having read other related posts I thought this warranted a new string.
I
love doing Wordplay quizzes, but realise that this opens up a really tricky area with FITB questions/answers. Usually if I get something wrong I realise that I've mistyped or misread some of the detail and feel grumpy with myself, but satisfied that the error is mine (though I have sent one or two corrections notes...)
However, I've been doing Anagram quizzes tonight and I'm a little not-so-happy with the specifics of some of them by minch. Now I really didn't want to write that, as I have nothing but respect for someone who does what he/she does (gees, why isn't there a graemlin for 'I think you're great but I really have to take you up on something please don't hate me'??!?!)
The problem is this - in the Anagram Couples series, you get 2 definitions in the question, then write 2 words as the answers. I have been trying to see a logic in the ordering of the answers vis-a-vis the ordering of the questions. However it seems that some are swapped to make 'gramatic' sense, but some aren't, which makes it tricky to pick which way to go.
Specifically, in first one I did, 'Anagram People', all the answers are given in the order of the definitions in the questions (though I don't know if there were answers given for reversals, as I got them all right {graemlin for 'I don't like to boast but'}).
Then I did Anagram Couples X, and had a problem with question 3 for which I was all ready to send a correction. If you go with the answer in the order of the definition, then you get 'Ransom Romans' but the question refers to a singular 'person from the eternal city'. When I submitted, the answer was given as 'Roman(')s Ransom' and I grunted but thought, yeah okay....then I got to question 8, which I thought was pretty straight forward, in order of the definitions you get 'enemy Yemen' which though rather clumsy is still gramatically correct. The answer came back wrong and was given as 'Yemen enemy'. Great big arg!

So can I please get some clarification on this? I want to keep loving these, and also I'd really like to start trying my hand at writing some Wordplays in the future.
Thanks heaps, love all your work!
