My thoughts are with you and your family Jane.
High point, next door neighbour just took my dustbin (trash can) out for me! Little things please me these days.

Yes, Jane. I've known more than one cancer patient who was attacked several times during their lives - and beat it every time...thinking about you today.
And Sue, how encouraging it is to see you thinking about things like TRASH. How wonderful. Looks like you are on the road to recovery!

Jane! *Gatsby gulps* Just even the notion of cancer moving into your home/family is ghastly . But it's just a problem and not a disaster - medicine has come so far in even just four years. My heart goes out to you, though, entirely. And to your Dad and family. Personally, I've dealt with both chemo and radiation therapy patients. It wasn't as bad as I was told to expect, quite frankly. My prayers to you and yours. And, Sue!, do I ever understand what you said. The smallest thing people do (or so they define it) can mean the world to the people they do it for. I know about those trashbins. To most they are just this thing next to your house. Sometimes they seem like immobile boulders, though. I think people who take on a boulder deserve a medal. However big or small it looks to those thoughtful folks.

My high today was taking my car for its annual service, which is about to celebrate it's 13th birthday this week and having covered 103000 miles, and being shown when it was up on the ramp what good condition they thought it was in, inside and underneath. It still drives as it did the day I bought it nearly 7 years ago, and apart from some rust around the back wheel arches still looks much the same as well. If I had to I could buy another one- they had a very nice Nissan next door to the mechanics that was just right if I needed to, but each year my Proton covers is money in the bank as it's worth nothing to sell so can't depreciate any more. Mind you, I won't get the bill till tomorrow so maybe I should wait till then...

My low point of the day?
Easy. I want to go to Sydney. I want to meet everbody (and actually would like to sound significantly ignorant as I do it). What a lost opportunity. *sighs*
Strange high point:
I was juggling the issue of "fairness" today. What is happening to me is so not fair. Everything is all wrong but it's all right just as much. So many people who show up (even the cops, I might add) seem so dazzled that I got this far and am in this shape on my own. Let me say, folks: that isn't about anything special. It's all about stubbornness. And a little spite, too, quite frankly. I guess my point is that so many don't know what a gift seeing next Tuesday is. I think I've made some of them here in Buckeye land know the importance of that.

Bought my new car for delivery next Friday, not that I will be able to drive it just yet. That would be my high. Oh yes, the postman came with my latest purchases from QVC - I went a bit mad this week in celebration of being able to!
Low was collecting cat's ashes.

I'll add my grandma to that list of amazing fortitude Gats, she's just had a tumour removed from her kidney at 95, she's all clear, and is already hoping to drive again when she comes out of the nursing home next week. We were all in a right state since she was diagnosed and it's been a great relief now she's OK again. My car's bill and condition were also positive, they checked it for it's MOT as they forgot it wasn't due, and said it's fine, and just shows manufacturers can make cars to last if they want to, and this is a cheapo as well, not a Mercedes! Of course it helps to look after them as well, which I basically rely on others to do, but it's worked anyhow. And of course seeing Sue back almost before she'd gone was a very nice surprise as well

Sorry about that Sue, I appear to be living outside conventional time at the moment, I think the phrase is 'absent minded'... Good to see you back though, I really lost track of the time apparently!

Low point: Oh, God. This is starting to hurt real mean now. It's really not supposed to hurt, you know? I don't have any of those pills left (probably wouldn't take them if I did). Being a zoned out zombie is NOT a goal of mine. Hey, at least my arms are working. I'll take that for sure. Really, I'm serious, I was pretty much told this wouldn't hurt much. Or at least not often. Live and learn. High point: I got to look up Tony Blair today. What a boring guy! But I found something to say about him. Actually it was about his wife. SHE'S interesting. Hope your clock is back on track, sat! Sue's three week abscence seemed like 300 years.

Don't be embarrassed, David. I think my "clock" is now set on perpetual backwards. Always nice to meet up with myself yesterday, though .

High. Receving a phone call from my daughter who had just arrived at the airport on her way home from honeymoon.
Low. Hearing on news of the death of a man and his 2 year old baby in 'a fall'. No further details yet so we don't know if it was a tragic accident or suicide/murder (we have had such things here when a father thinks he is going to 'lose' his child/ren on relationship breakdown, one man killed his three children). That child's poor mother, which ever of the two it turns out to be.

Low, low point.
Someone has overwritten our main page on my works website with the page used within the office. We now have about 1,500 bad links plus some highly sensitive information being made available to the public!
This is doing my heart the world of good, avoid stress? Sheesh!

Low: I heard about what happened at the Boyscout Jamboree. Four men were pitching a tent, three from Alaska, and one from Oregon , and hit an electrical wire, they were electrocuted and killed. I checked to make sure that none were people I knew. They weren't, thank God. One of my closest friends was in the tent right next to the accident, and witnessed the whole thing. Knowing full well how dangerous it was for him to rush in there, he was going to try to do something anyways. They wouldn't let him near the men, but he tried as hard as he could to do something. If only there were more people like that in the world, who would risk their lives for people they don't know. I think the world would be a much better place.
High: I've just opened up a Web Design business and got my first customer! Woohoo! I hope it all works out for the best.
Sue: EEK! That sounds like a terrible mess to fix. Try not to stress TOO much over it.

I haven't heard about The Boyscount Jamboree. Maybe I should, even though it doesn't sound so good. Give a link and I'll check it out [and respond better].
My high point of the day: I keep learning so much! Just when I gave up on it some years ago. Thought I knew it all back then. Wrong! Now I'm so eager to learn more. The timing for that happening is maybe not the best - but I'll take it, anyway.
My low point of the day: (And I really wasn't going to say anything about this...) I fell in my driveway yesterday. A hearty slam. Actually I thought I had this 'falling down' sewed up since I haven't fallen for a while. Total surprise for me. I finally got myself somewhat together and crawled into my patio room. I sat there on the floor for a while and threw up because it hurt so bad. I thought I had broken something because I couldn't move my left side for a while. Now I can, so it seems OK. I can't walk on that foot at the moment but I suspect it will heal. Great day (and sorry to bore you with it)! Last thought I can think of: Respect your health. If you don't (and I admit that I didn't) it can finally bite you like a rabid wolf.

High - the delivery of some Godiva chocolates, yummy.
Low - the discovery that even more of my office website has been overwritten so producing yet many more bad links. When I return to work I will have to check on over 6 months of work to see what has been done incorrectly. Such fun especially since I will have my normal work to do at the same time!
I have been building that website since before January 1997 (when we opened it with 200 pages, now it is 800). We get 220,000+ visitors each year which might not sound many but considering our population of 86,000 it IS a lot. I could weep.

Sue, in view of your health and the fact that this awful theft isn't your fault - I wish they could make someone at least help you go through and check the files...you don't need this frustration right now.

It isn't theft, it is incompetance of my fellow workers. They refused to ASK me while I was accessable, they guessed and guessed wrong. I say guessed, I spent over three months trying to teach a colleague what to do in my absence, we gave up on that as she caused so many problems, it took me longer to check her work and put it right than to do it myself. I can view page source and can see who messed up - sheesh.

I don't really have a high, but I have a low. Another driver ran a right turn only lane and hit the back of my car about 6:40pm (00:40 BST). As there are two signs before the opening stating "RIGHT LANE MUST TURN RIGHT," he should be considered at fault.
