Our 17 month old has been dancing and moving to the beat from a very young age.

Does anyone know of a site that provides researched evidence that humans reacting to music by moving their bodies or nodding their heads etc is related to genetics?

I'll bet she gets it from her mother!

However, there was a five minute thing on The X Factor where 'Random' visited and sang to an autistic 3-4 y/o with amazing results. She was up and dancing around the place to the beat and harmonies that are their trademark. Whether or not that is a help re: the connection with music at a very early age I don't know.

No Exit my wife didn`t go out discoing, that I`m aware of anyway.

Your comment about the autistic child dancing did help to a degree. I was taught at school that learned knowledge couldn`t be passed on to your offspring and I now suspect that isn`t the case at all.

I feel that dancing and swaying to music is a genetic inheritance from perhaps when people were little more than smart animals but can`t find any site that will enlighten me that my feeling has any basis in fact.

Perhaps she is going to be musical.
