ROUND 8 questions
1) An episode from series 1 of the British TV show "The Vicar of Dibley"
2) One of the Bells (or set of bells) mentioned in the nursery rhyme "Oranges and Lemons"
(There are two versions of "Oranges and Lemons", the less common version names more bells than the other version. I will accept bells from either version)
3) Tug of War was an event at the Olympic Games from 1900-1920. In 1908 the gold medal was won by a British team from the City of London Police. Name a member from that team.
4) A species of lizard that can be found in Tasmania
5) In 'honour' of death of our cat, Walker -
Name something you might do with a dead cat
(no condolences please. Walker was actually my mother-in-law's cat that we inherited when she died last year. He was old, cranky and did not like us much)
If anyone needs a link to question 3, let me know though I checked and it can be found with a simple Google search.

Jane, I dont know if anyone else did this, but I read question one as someone who "Started" not starred , and therefore picked Rupert Grint and not Ginnie Weasley as I originally planned to do.

Hiya Guys This is my first shot at hosting a round so I'm hoping everything goes off smoothly. I'm not sure if you guys prefer "Google/Research" questions or "Off-the-top-of-your-head" questions so I'll incorporate both, as many of you already do. Good luck and have fun. ROUND 10 QUESTIONSQuote:
1.) Tell me somewhere other than your bed that you have fallen asleep.
2.) Tell me something you threw in the garbage/trash today.
3.) Tell me a country you would like to visit if you could only visit one country for the rest of your life.
4.) Tell me a main character, living or dead, from the hit ABC show "LOST".
5.) And finally, the 1st anniversary of the Trivia Rounds is coming up in a week and a half. These rounds were the brain child of Kuu who posted the first TRIAL round of questions on June 21st, 2004. Tell me a player who participated in that first ever round.
(Alrighty, I'm not anticipating any problems with these {although that's possibly a rookie mistake right there}, however, if by chance you do need clarification or a push in the right direction, as always you can PM me here in the forums or e-mail me or if you happen to have AOL, you can instant message me if I'm online but not in the forums, whatever's most convenient for you. )
This round will close sometime Sunday.

A belated Round 9, and I hope you will tolerate the self-indulgence of these questions. 1. My initials are G. P., and as many of you know, I enjoy Scrabble. Please tell me a 3- or 4-letter word that contains both initials, in order. ie, GAP is ok but PEG is not. 2. I have followed St Kilda in the Australian Football League for many years- goodness knows why, as they have only won ONE premiership, and that was way back in 1966. The club has produced a few champions, however, who have won the Brownlow Medal (Best and Fairest player). Name one. 3. My first name has 4 letters and my surname has 9 letters. Can you find a famous person whose name fits the same pattern? 4. I love the 'Blues Brothers' movie, and I want to see if you can name me one of the dances mentioned in Ray Charles' great rendition of 'Shake Your Tailfeather'. 5. Snooker is another favourite pastime, as is having a bit of a gamble. This question will combine both... The easy bit- Name one of the coloured balls and its point value. (NOT the white cue ball) The hard bit- Bonus points will be awarded to the same value as the ball named, but ONLY if you select a unique answer... Good luck to all, and I will be closing off sometime on Monday.

ANSWERS TO ROUND 8 - 11 people played Question 1 - Vicar of Dibley episodeSome site gives a shorten version of certain episodes. I have used the longer version in these answers. Worth 10 points The Window and the Weather Worth 5 points Community Spirit (3), Election (4), Service for the Animals (3) Not mentioned "Arrival" and "Song of Praise" Question 2 - Bells in "Oranges and LemonsWorth 10 points Shoreditch, St Margarets, St John, Great Bell of Bow, Stepney, Whitechapel Worth 5 points Old Bailey (3), Aldgate (2) The alternative version (London version) can be seen hereQuestion 3 - Member of the 1908 Tug of War teamWorth 10 points Frederick Goodfellow, H. Duke, Frederick Merriman, Edwin A. Mills Worth 5 points Albert Ireton (2), William Hirons (2), Edward Barrett (3) Question 4 - Tasmanian lizardWorth 10 points Tussock Skink, Blotched Blue-tongue, Mountain Dragon, Pedra Branca Skink, Northern Snow Skink, Bougainville's Skink Worth 5 points Spotted Skink (2), Glossy Grass Skink (2) I had one answer of "Legless or Flap-footed Lizard" which I had to disallow. This family of lizard is listed on one Tasmanian site but when you read the imformation it says that it is one of the five families of lizards that are found in AUstralia but that they do not ocur in Tasmania. The Pedra Branca skink is extremely interesting as they only occur on one small island (2.5 hectares in size) 28 miles off the mainland coast. This isalnd has been seperate from the Tasmanian mainland for at least 11,000 years. The lizards' population flutuates between 250-600 individuals and has probably never been much greater than that. Question 5 - Uses for a dead catSome of the ideas are very strange but the more unusual ones have appeared in the book "101 Uses for a Dead Cat" so I have accepted all of them. Worth 10 points Swing him around by the tail to find out once and for all if there really is enough room to swing a cat, a beer tap, Walking stick stand, Move it from the road to the grass verge at the side, Have it cremated, Bury it, Back Scratcher, Sweep your chimneys Worth 5 points Stuff it (3) We were boring - we just buried Walker out the back with my husband saying a few words of 'praise' over him. SCORES 45 points - ElfTwinkle 40 points - Ren33, Marley, Santana2002 35 points - kevinatilusa, ozzz2002, Cinnam0n, Mugaboo 30 points - gemini19, polaris101, gatsby722

Note: Ferguson Jenkins made his major-league debut in 1965 with the Philadelphia Phillies at the age of 21. He was trasded to the Chicago Cubs early in the 1966 season, and became known as one of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball. He moved on to the Texas Rangers for the 1974 & 1975 seasons, then on to the Boston Red Sox in 1976 & 1977, back to Texas from 1978-1981, then closed out his 19-year career pitching once again for the Chicago Cubs for the 1982 and 1983 seasons. A three-time All-Star, he won the National League Cy Young Award in 1971. He led the league in wins twice, least walks/9 innings five times, complete games four times, and home runs allowed seven times. He won 20 or more games in six straight seasons from 1967 to 1972. (He recorded 284 wins, and pitched 4,500 innings recording 3,192 strikeouts, and giving up only 997 walks --- He is one of only six major-league pitchers to win more than 100 games in both the American and National leagues.) 10 points:Newmarket, Ontario (Inuksuit --- This is the one with the spelling variation that I noted I would accept); Toronto, Ontario (Toronto World Youth Day 2002 Inukshuk)
5 points: Hay River, Northwest Territories (2); Marmora, Ontario (2); Rankin Inlet, Nunavut Territory (4)
Not Mentioned: Vancouver, British Columbia
Note: One person gave Above Williams Lake (Overlooking Rankin Inlet, Nunavut) as their answer --- this answer was included with the tally for Rankin Inlet
These are the 6 places that I am aware of --- There may be others as well.

ROUND 13 - MONDAY
No particular theme this week - the questions are on subjects which just popped into my head.
1) Name me one of the 'Miranda' rights.
2) AXE and AXIS are two different words which share the same plural - AXES. Name me another pair of words with this property.
3) Give me the name of a place in Finland which is also a palindrome.
4) The collective term "Crown Jewels" denotes the regalia and vestments worn by the sovereign of the United Kingdom during the coronation ceremony and at various other state functions. The term refers to the following objects: the crowns, sceptres, orbs, swords, rings, spurs, colobium sindonis, dalmatic, armill, and the royal robe or pall, as well as several other objects connected with the ceremony itself. Name me one of the crowns which make up part of this regalia
5) The crypt of Christ Church Cathedral, (Dublin, Ireland) (also known as THE CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF THE HOLY TRINITY ) dating from the years after 1171-2, is one of the largest medieval crypts in either Britain or Ireland. It is unusual in stretching under the nave as well as the choir of the upper church. 175ft/63,4m long, it is a forest of heavy rough-stone pillars which carry the entire weight of the cathedral and central tower. The crypt contains many historic artefacts which have survived here simply because they were in no one's way! Name me one of these artefacts
Happy Googling to one and all. This round will remain open for most of the rest of this week.
*Edited: to fix spelling on Q2 ACE should have read AXE

For 10 points- Yellow, worth 2 For 5 points- Green, 3 (3), Brown, 4 (4), Pink, 6 (2), Black, 7, (2) Not mentioned- Blue, 5 It was quite fun watching people's minds at work with one, but the cautious overcame the brave in this instance, and actually won the whole round! POINTS 42 points- Ren32 40 points- Littlewoman, Gatsby, Santana 35 points- Exit10, Cinnam0n, Mugaboo 30 points- ElfTwinkle, Kuu, SpanishLiz, LeoDaVinci, Blinkybill. Onya, Ren- have a winner's point, mate!

Welcome to another round of: The Tuesday questions! So without further ado, I give you: Round XIV - Tuesday June 14th, 2005. Quote:
The Questions:
1. Name a sister city of New York City, NY, USA... 2. Game 2 of the NBA finals was just played, with the Spurs beating the Pistons 97-76. Name a player who scored for the Spurs... 3. Name a country whose flag contains only the colours red, white, and green... 4. I love iced tea, especially when its hot outside. Name a liquid ingredient of a regular Long Island Iced Tea... 5. Some countries change their names for many reasons. Name an independent island nation's former name (and mention the nation's current name too)...
Good luck and have a great week!
