Round 16
I'm posting these early. I'm so slow right now and could really use a few extra days to read answers. Results sometime this weekend.
1. Pick a movie in the 1970s that had Valerie Perrine in it.
2. Say a city in Finland that has a population of 150,000 or higher.
3. The Iditararod! Liking those dog racers and mushers. The race begins in Nome, Alaska and is followed by 8 checkpoints (before the route splits based on which numbered year it is). Tell me one of those first checkpoints.
4. On June 5 the 'Antoinette Perry' Awards were issued for Broadway shows this past season. I'm looking for one of those nominated for Best Featured Actress or Best Featured Actor in a Musical that didn't grab the trophy that night.
5. Name a Flintstone or a Rubble (pets'll work ) in that old animated classic TV show.
Have fun!

My guess would be that cinnam0n means US Open --- Golf's US Open PGA tournament is taking place this weekend/June 16th to 19th --- the US Open is one of the Grand Slam tournaments on the PGA (Professional Golf Association) tour.

Round 16 is closed now - the venomous, sneaky and slippery thing (not to mention nicely bungled by me )! You all did great, though. Results directly.

Round 16
Yikes! I should be fired now! Not only do I spell like a blinding horse I mistook East from West.
1. Pick a movie in the 1970s that had Valerie Perrine in it.
For 10 points:
Mr. Billion (1977), The Last American Hero (1973), The Magician Of Lublin (1979), W.C. Fields And Me (1976).
For 5 points:
The Electric Horseman (1979)(2), Slaughterhouse Five (1972)(2).
One disallowed: Maid To Order, which she was in, came out in 1987 and I was asking for films in the 1970s.
Perrine was a Las Vegas showgirl and took a stab at Hollywood, making quite a splash playing Honey Bruce in 1974's Lenny. Lenny and Honey Bruce never fared so well but his completely raucous/obscene comedy got him into a LOT of trouble back in the day. Perrine was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for that film but eventually drifted off into the buxom showgirl routine.
2. Say a city in Finland that has a population of 150,000 or higher.
There are only 5 and all were named !
For 10 points:
Turku, Helsinki.
For 5 points:
Tampere(3), Espoo(2), Vantaa(2).
3. The Iditarod! Liking those dog racers and mushers. The race begins in Nome, Alaska and is followed by 8 checkpoints (before the route splits based on which numbered year it is). Tell me one of those first checkpoints.
Here's the blundery one. The route actually starts in Anchorage and ends in Nome. Since I screwed that part up I accepted either the first or last 8 checkpoints. Sorry everyone about that 'oops'.
For 10 points:
Elim, Koyuk, Nikolai (<---that last one the only checkpoint given on the Anchorage side of the Track; some people know when to work around my pitiful instructions ).
For 5 points:
White Mountain(2), Kaltag(2), Safety Roadhouse(2).
Others, of course, would have worked.
4. On June 5 the 'Antoinette Perry' Awards were issued for Broadway shows this past season. I'm looking for one of those nominated for Best Featured Actress or Best Featured Actor in a Musical that didn't grab the trophy that night.
Blech! to this question, too. The big glitch came in what a Lead Actor is vs. a Featured one. Leads are in the bulk of the show while Featureds stop in for a short time and then leave, after they've made a notable impression with their song. That said:
For 10 points:
Michael McGrath in Monty Python's Spamalot, Joanna Gleason in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Jan Maxwell in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Marc Kudisch (he was doing the Chitty Chitty bit, too).
For 5 points:
Celia Keenan-Bolger in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (which still sounds like the weirdest name for a Musical - but it won several awards)(2).
I had to disallow 3 answers on this one . Gary Beach was nominated for Lead Actor for La Cage Aux Folles as was Phylicia Rashad (Actress) for Gem Of The Ocean. Sutton Foster in Little Women was nowhere to be named this year.
5. Name a Flintstone or a Rubble (pets'll work ) in that old animated classic TV show.
Got 'em all but 1! Great job on the goofy question! Actually I reckon they were all a bit on the daffy side...
For 10 points:
Betty Rubble, Bam-Bam Rubble, Dino (the Flintstone's dinosaur/dog).
For 5 points:
Fred & Wilma Flintstone(both 2), Barney Rubble(2).
Poor Pebbles. Nobody picked her. Must be that perpetual bad hair day?
Scores List:
Mugaboo --- with 45 points!
gemini19 and ren33 --- 35 points!
cinnamOn, ElfTwinkle, Leo Da Vinci, Polaris101 --- 30 points!
littlewoman2 & ozzz2002 --- 25 points!
Well played all! And, I promise, my vision/attention to details will improve shortly. Don't oust me just yet.
Congrats to Mugaboo for collecting a point on The Monthly Board!
