It's July already, and the year is halfway over! What a daunting thought! Round 1 Questions:1. Name a blonde actress who starred as the leading lady in a film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. 2. Choose a word--three letters in length or more--that you can make from the letters in "water." Use each letter only once. 3. On June 21, 2005, the American Film Institute released its ranking of "100 Years...100 Movie Quotes." Name a movie quote that appears in the top ten. 4. Name a regular character on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" TV series. 5. Tomorrow, July 2, is my birthday. Please name a historical event that occurred on this date in history. Have fun! I will close this round on Monday.

ElfTwinkle, 95 points? What's your secret?
Wow, that's a surprising total --- there are many times when I've seemed to go for the most popular answer rather than the unique one.
I can't think of any secrets to pass on --- however, I rarely miss answering a round, and obviously I've had a LOT of LUCK!
Maybe cinnam0n can share some secrets --- it took me a full year to get to 95, and cinnam0n has got 58 in just over 6 months (cinnam0n joined the game in mid-Nov.)

ROUND 8 - Friday, July 8thNational Pride Round (Inspiration for this round came from a thread I read here in the forums about national anthems and national pride. ) 1. AUSTRALIA - Contrary to popular belief "Waltzing Matilda" is NOT Australia's national anthem. "Advance Australia Fair" has been the official Australian national anthem since it replaced "God Save the Queen" in 1984. According to my research, usually only the first and third verses are sung due to the large amount of references to England in the other verses (Aussies you can confirm or deny this information for me when you send your answers ). Give me one line from the first verse of "Advance Australia Fair". 2. CANADA - Officially, Canada is a bilingual country, and therefore has two versions of its national anthem to accommodate its citizens. "O Canada" was orginally written in 1880, in French, and the French lyrics have not changed since then. It was translated into English several years later, and was eventually adopted as the Canadian national anthem in 1980. Give me one line from the first verse of the current ENGLISH version of "O Canada". 3. ENGLAND - The official anthem of England and the rest of the United Kingdom is "God save the Queen". However, in 1901 England began occasionally using its own local anthem called "Land of Hope and Glory". Depending on where or against who they're playing in a sporting match, England may opt to use "Land of Hope and Glory" as their anthem instead of "God Save the Queen". Give me one line from the anthem "Land of Hope and Glory". 4. THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - The U.S.'s "Star Spangled Banner" wasn't officially adopted as America's national anthem until 1931. It was originally written as a poem by Francis Scott Key in 1814 during the war of 1812. Prior to 1931, the U.S. had no official anthem, however they did use the song "Hail Columbia" as a "sort of" anthem. Currently, the "Star Spangled Banner" has 4 verses, but it's the first verse that is always sung. Give me one line from the first verse of the "Star Spangled Banner". 5. URUGUAY - The small country of Uruguay, tucked between Brazil and Argentina, has long been considered the 'Switzerland' of South America because of its neutral political stance. It being the place of my birth, I'm ashamed to say that I don't know the national anthem by heart. However, unlike me, the citizens of Uruguay are fiercly patriotic and proudly belt out their anthem "Orientales, la Patria o la tumba" whenever the opportunity arises. Give me one line (in spanish) from the first verse of "Orientales, la Patria o la tumba".If you have trouble with any of these, especially with number 5, head to this website where you'll find the lyrics and also the music for the anthems (if you'd like a listen). If you're still in a pickle, don't hesitate to ask me. Have fun and good luck.
