I can't be the only PHC fan around the place. I also didn't know where to post this, since we don't have a radio forum!

My favorite character is Gary's uncle, Senator K, who was visably moved to tears by everything he saw."Ah, Chonny - look at those clouds. The sky it's so blue"...[breaks down] ah , life is good, Chonny."

If you are familiar with Garrison Keillor's mythical home town of Lake Wobegon, Minnesota -Who are your favorite characters?

I just discovered "A Prairie Home Companion" (and NPR) and can't remember when I've enjoyed anything more.

My son has been recommending National Public Radio to me for quite some time. I've resisted because, as a boy, I remember NPR had such riviting offerings along the lines of 'The Grazing Habits Of the Mongolian Yak' and 'Understanding Your Prostate'. But, with the passing years, their program schedule has changed and they now have something for everyone.

PHC is a charmer and I'm an instant fan.
In fact, I've contacted NPR to see if I can obtain tapes of prior performances.

I used to listen to it quite a bit. One of my friends' mom always listened to it. She has taped every broadcast. I haven't listened in years, but I do have a few of Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegone Days books.

[Many years ago] I had been working at the local news paper as an intern for several months, and had gotten to be friends with many of the folks there, including my editor, who at first scared the daylights out of me [imagine Rosie O'Donnell, with a REAL attitude, and chainsmoking]

My birthday rolled around in February, and I was off to a nearby city for the weekend, where we had made hotel reservations. As I was leaving my desk Friday afternoon, Lady Editor poked her head out of her doorway and rather gruffly told me I needed to be sure and tune in to PHC on Saturday night.

Well. Okay,then... I'd be sure to do that. I usually did, anyway. [Imagine saying 'no!']

I was in for a real treat that night, when I heard Garrison Keillor say during his message segment "Kate -don't know which birthday this is, but you seem to be holding up well. All your buddies at Eureka Times Echo."

The best birthday I'd ever had, to that point. What a shock...that's how I finally knew I'd been accepted around the editorial room, I guess!
