My friends, like, basically despised this movie. Now, it's not the greatest movie in the world but it certainly had some good moments. For one, and most importantly, the ending made it a bit different from all the other recent scary movies. I probably won't go out and buy the DVD or anything but it must be mentioned that Jennifer Connelly is fabulous in it, especially interacting with the oh-so-adorable little girl. Love,love,love the end where Ceci's hair is braided. Thoughts?

I really like this movie. It's a nice psychological suspense flick, like the Japanese film it's based on. This is the best Hollywood remake of a Japanese or Korean thriller I've seen. Jennifer Connelly always does an excellent job in her roles and she's fantastic here. I'll get the dvd just for Connelly's performance.

I thought it was okay, but nothing really that special. I had two main problems with it, the first being that it was very atmospheric, but really had very few scares or moments of actual tension to go along with it. There's lots of rain and sort of a perpetual dreariness, but nothing really substantial. At the end it felt like barely anything even took place. I think it also gets bogged down with too much setup (and subplots that meander, like the suspicious teens) and not enough actual conflict and resolution. Kind of an interesting thing, and acted pretty well, but not really good enough for me to recommend.
