Does the Fox News channel have tv ads, I was just wondering because here (as it's not America)all we get is world weather every time the presenter says they'll be back after the break. It's great to know the weather but not that much, so I was wondering in America what's happens when the break is on.

Lucky you! We get regular commercials.

Where in the world are you where you don't get commercials?

I'm in Ireland, I'd prefer to have ads (or commercials as you call them) more than the weather. Although for some strange reason I never switch to a different channel every time the weather comes on (even if I've probably seen it 10 times already that day).

Weird, not even any commercials once an hour?

None at all, you must get some serious amount of commercials every hour because we get the weather 3 or 4 times an hour and it lasts a few minutes each time. It's understandable though, whatever they are advertising would be American and probably only available over there.

Sometimes it feels like we get more commercials than programs. It used to be 20 minutes of commercials for 40 minutes of show.

I soon found that out when I watched CSI on the tv it'd be listed in the tv guide to be on from 9:30 - 10:30pm but when i got the dvd's each episode was only 40 mins long, and I was wondering where the hell is the other 20 minutes, then I realised. I knew there was a lot of ads but come on 20 minutes of them that's unreal and not fair on the viewer to have to go through that many.

The Spanish Digital company that I get Fox News on also shows the weather during the commercial breaks. There are some ads on the regular Fox Channel, but not many. At one point they were showing two consecutive episodes of '24' - in an hour and a half.

I'm a frequent Fox News channel watcher, and I'm embarrassed to tell you that I don't know if there are 'outside' commercials. All I can think of now is, when they break for a commercial, all I remember seeing is advertising for other Fox News shows. For example, Bill O'Reilly will have a commercial for Greta van Susteran, she'll have one for Hannity snd Combs, etc.

But I don't remember product commmercials. Is this the first sign of Altzheimers?

I don't refer to those as ads - while one presenters show is on they advertise for upcoming shows, I was referring to ads that have nothing to do with fox whatsoever, usually car ads(if you have those) or other products. I don't get the regular fox channel only the news one.

This seems a most strange thread, albeit populated by some very nice people. I puzzled at the idea that Fox News would not have commercials. I've watched the channel from time to time and learned not long ago that its viewership (state-side anyway)is more than twice that of CNN ! Surely, they're not going to turn that size audience into a revenue stream.

I flicked the station on about an hour ago, confident in my almost mystical power to be stuck with a commercial. Be it live (commercial network ads and PBS beg-a-thons alike) or on VCR rewinds, my romo finger is a diving rod for them!Well, in less than a minute (7:26 pm EDT) Fox News had broken for commercial and subjected me to back-to-back-to-back ads (IBM, Bowing, and Proctor&Gamble's Crest toothpaste, for those of you keeping score <g>). These were all network ones, not local carrier. I don't know about the channel's reach outside the USA, but here, the "commercial-less Fox news" is a mere urban legend network

Oops, pardon those typos, please. Obviously I meant they're NOT going to miss turning that size audience into a revenue stream and the airplane manufacturer is of course (blush), Boeing, not Bowing

I try to avoid FOX news where possible, don't like the reporting for some reason (although I did laugh at a joke about rollerblading) but in the interest of this thread I tuned it on and the regular ad breaks seem to be just ads for other show on the paytv network.

The U.S. version of Fox Network News Channel may (or may not) be the same others on this thread watch yet the commercials would be tailored for the country where it's received . Perhaps ratings are low in Ireland, Australia, etc but here,Fox is perceived by many as a refreshing change from the other network news departments which march in lock-step and in one case, within the year, ran with a story based on poorly forged documents then stonewalled.(CBS News). Fox' beating of CNN in ratings is steady and well-documented so it stands to reason it has plenty of sponsors which invariably follows viewership.
I mentioned the precise time of the ads I saw yesterday and the large firms' identities as well. To make sure it was no fluke, I again put my my "divining rod" of a romo finger to work to find ads.(A cursed gift <g>)It took but five minutes (approx 6:23 pm EDT) to find 3 back-to-back-to-back ones on Fox. Tonight they were a national mortgage lender, a Kelloggs cereal one, and a Merck prescription drug within the allotted 2 1/2 minutes and, as yesterday, this is hardly prime time. If Fox ratings are lower in other countries, it's just as logical of course, that a lack of viewers would produce a dearth of sponsors. A log of commercials stateside would tell quite a different tale, though.

Thanks, Never really looked at it that way, There is only one million or less households here who recieve SKY satelite, the other satelite companies don't have fox news (our previous one didn't)that I know of. Compare to the amount of people in the US who watch fox news, one million or less isn't really that big of a deal so at least now I know why we get the weather instead. I only watch fox because I like to know what going on around the world and CNN has an awful lot of news which is outside of the US (alot from asia or the UK) but for the UK news I could just watch ITV news and Sky news or Euronews (covers all of Europe). I don't sit and watch the news 24/7, it might sound like I do, but I don't.
