He was 85 years old and had Alzheimer's. Besides being well-known for Star Trek, he was also a member of the Canadian forces on D-Day that landed on Juno beach.

It was sad to read about this. Besides Spock, Scotty was my favorite character in the original "Star Trek" TV show. May he rest in peace.

But James Doohan left quite a legacy: nine children! Wow.

Yes, Littlewoman -Scotty was also my favorite character of the original Trek. I loved his commonsense approach to engineering the Enterprise...and his ability to stand up to [ and sometimes even overide] the pretty-taken -with -himself Captain Kirk!

I just read on cnn.com that, according to Doohan's wishes, he was cremated and part of his ashes will be blasted into outer space on a rocket launched later this year. Befitting.

He uttered my favorite line in all of Star Trek history: "Hello, Computer."

Star Trek IV.

I will never forget that one sided conversation.

A sad day.

Of all the characters, he was the most grounded.

Farewell.

He was such a good Scotty. I liked him as he wasn't as full of himself as a certain Captain was.
I could see the joy on his face when he greeted fans or when he was interviewed.
He shall be missed.
I like that his wishes will be honored. It makes sense.
