Does anyone have an actor or actress that they really dislike and can't stand to watch?

For me I can't stand Peewee Herman (aka Paul Reubens). I won't watch him for 30 seconds.

An actress I will not watch is Pamela Anderson. *Gags*

I couldn't stand John Candy. Not a popular thing to say, I know. And Pauly Shore? No, thanks.

As for actresses? *I'm going to get darts thrown at me here* but I think Helen Hunt is a one-trick pony. Bores me almost every time I see her. Also, seeing as how I don't consider Pamela Anderson an actress in any sort of order, I can't really redress her. If I could I would, though.

Yes, using the word actress to describe Pamela Anderson is really using the word loosely!

I hear you about John Candy, Gats. I didn't like him either.

Hmmm, I'm not a big fan of slapstick, so anyone who provides a steady diet of it (Ben Stiller, Will Farrell, Pee Wee Herman) does absolutely nothing for me. Jim Carrey (from the city in which I live) is one I can run hot and cold on. His larger than life mania is usually too over-the-top for me, but having said that, he's done some excellent films too.
Neither do I care much for actors whose only claim to fame is how many people they can beat up.
Stallone is one I have trouble watching (sorry Adreienne!), as is Schwartzenegger, if he's doing anything other than comedy. I loved 'True Lies' and 'Kindergarten Cop', but don't like his serious action films.
I'm scratching my head to come up with a couple of female stars, but cannot. I have never seen Pamela Anderson in anything, and it doesn't sound like I'm missing much!
Oh, Michael Douglas is one who's good, but not as good as he thinks he is, and if Clint Eastwood doesn't start acting his age and stop casting himself as a 40 something romantic lead, I'm going to stop watching him too!

Angela Bassett - though, to be fair, I only saw her in one movie, that heist one set in Montreal. The woman could not keep her face still, she loked like she was trying to get a raspberry seed out from between her teeth. It really got up my nose.
Andie McDowell is another, with her "stupidest sheep in the flock" expression.

As for male actors, any SNL alumnus (starting with Bill Murray, and continuing on down the line). I just want to wipe that smirk off of their faces.

Sean Penn. (Sorry Gats, I know you like him). There is just something about his beady little eyes. He gives me the creeps. It is very rare that I take an instant dislike to anyone but he's one that always brings a funny feeling of revulsion to the pit of my stomach - it's like a biological response to some sort of danger. I know that probably sounds weird!

The actor I don't like is Orlando Bloom. Sorry, but I couldn't watch anything with him in it.

Tom Cruise. I hated "Jerry Maguire" and he seems to play this character in every movie he's in. I don't like him off or on the screen. Period.

Ben Affleck & Matt Damon. Their acting seems forced or phony.

Marlon Brando and Elizabeth Taylor. Major over-hyped snooze-fests.

TV: Roseanne Barr. The "Nanny" actress, sorry I can't recall her name. Delta Burke and Gerald McRaney.

I'm going to defend myself a little bit here - and a few things more.

- MotherGoose: Yes, I like Sean Penn. But he IS a beady eyed angry sort, I'll agree. But when he flies he rockets. I really will never forget his work in "Dead Man Walking". To take a character like that and make him understandable was awesome. Which is not to say that I'd like being the one toting a camera who bumps into him getting my face bashed in. A total grump, that one.

- My other thing: Liz Taylor and Paul Newman (I guess it was Brando mentioned)! Bad? I just caught "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" the other day. Fireworks, I thought! They're not always good but that flick sealed the deal for what they CAN do, given the chance.

I thought of another few actors who drive me to hysteria.

Molly Ringwald - Oh, how I wish it were legal to have slapped that 'pout' off her face.
Agreed on Stallone - He was once nominated for Best Actor? Huh? Talk about luck!
Joan Crawford is another one. The woman was your basic barracuda in life and it showed up on screen real quick. Never liked her at all in her films. Maybe I'm just not a fan of shoulder pads and big eyebrows.
*Here's my new one that will get me riddled with stones* I can't watch a John Wayne movie all the way through (I think I made it through "Stagecoach" once). Yes, he's an icon and bigger yes, I think he's dull.

That's it. Have at me at will .

Well, we might not agree on Sean Penn but we do agree on John Wayne! (LOL). I've always thought he couldn't act his way out of a paper bag - much to Maynooth's chagrin. He's a big John Wayne fan.

I think the only actor/actress that comes to mind for me is Jane Fonda. Will not watch anything she's in even if you paid me too.

Treat Williams is my worst one. He's the dad on that show "Everwood". Every movie he's in has a helicopter on the cover (of the case), yet there is no helicopter in the movie. I can't stand his acting either.

I really dislike Cybill Shepherd; she seems to have a permanent 'smirk' and is her own #1 fan.

I dislike any actress who doesn't know when it's time to give up. Like Farrah Fawcett. Too long in the tooth to still be an 'angel' but, there she was, in her own short-lived reality show. Shaking what I'm sure she thought was a head still tressed with luxuriant, full, shining waves but now was an over-treated limp arrangement of greasy looking strands. It's over, Farrah. Deal with it.

Poor Liza Minelli. She's been rebuilt more than the Bionic Woman. She's had hip and knee replacements and who knows what else. Her 'gaydar' is as strong as ever; she can spot a gay guy to marry in no time flat.

When she eats (and this girl can eat!) she always has a side order of Vicadin just to keep her reservation at the Betty Ford Center up to date. Several months ago, she tried a come-back on the Tony Danza Show. There was dead silence as she tried high kicks and pelvis gyrations (a Rockette she's not). The audience responded with polite applause, grateful I'm sure that she completed the number in one piece. Liza - it's over. Get a grip.

I agree about John Wayne: he's stiff, dull, and uninteresting as an actor. I'll never understand how he came to be known as the all-American actor!

I don't like Leonardo DiCaprio either. His babyface annoys me, and to me he "plays up" to the camera too much. I just don't care for him as an actor.

I also agree with Gats about Joan Crawford. So many critics praise her, but I can't stand her acting.

Neither do I like Alan Ladd. Like John Wayne, he comes across as dull and wooden. Herbert Marshall, another actor from the '40s and '50s, falls into that same category.

Reese Witherspoon is another actress I'm not crazy about. Her performance in Vanity Fair was almost good, but thus far in her career I haven't been very impressed. I don't like Katie Holmes either. She's just not convincing.

I'm sure there are more, but I'll stop here.

There are a lot of John Wayne movies I can't stand, for the same reasons listed above. BUT there are three or four in which he was perfectly cast, like The Cowboys and True Grit.I guess some movies are tailor -written for a wooden, hard driven old coot!

In defense of Wayne and Candy: The latter could be over the top and needed directorial control, but it's hard to watch "Trains and Boats and Planes" with JC and Steve Martin and not feel that the lonely, boisterous man he portrays can make you teary-eyed as well as laugh. We're not talking PeeWee Herman here!
As for The Duke, he offset his many formula characters and flicks with a self-deprecation utterly lacking in today's Hollywood: "What part am I playing in this new one? The same damn part I play in everything else..John Wayne." Despite that, he showed nuance and talent in a number of flicks The Quiet Man a classic Skunkee named 2) The Searchers..deserving of a nomination, modern directors Scorcese and Coppola name sons "Ethan" in homage to lead character Ethan Edwards, portrayed by Wayne.) 3)The Shootist..Wayne's last movie before he died. His dying old gunslinger role was almost autobiographic and his interaction with landlady Lauren Bacall and her son (Ron Howard)was subtle acting. Was he a Gene Hackman, Robert Duval, or even Brando as an actor? NO. Many of his flicks make you wince. But he had a fistful of John Ford westerns including Ford's last.."The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence" that were absolutely great if you like that genre.

Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock have to be the two most irritating actresses of all time. As soon as these two appear on my television set, it goes straight off.
Most annoying actor has to be Nicolas Cage. This guy has the kind of face that you just want to hit...very hard.

I have a real problem with Tom Cruise. His internal censor doesn't seem to work, he just opens mouth and inserts foot. I also dislike Jane Fonda because she can't seem to separate celebrity from politics.

I dislike:

- Just about any songstress turned actress ie. Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce Knowles, Madonna, in just about anything they make. Stick to your day jobs, ladies.

- Nick Nolte 'cause that guy just freaks me out.

- Jack Nicholson, for some reason the gross devil character he played in "The Witches of Eastwick" always stayed in my mind and I constantly picture him like that... and don't even get me started on that movie "As Good as it Gets" 'cause I'm pretty sure I can think of a much better title for it including words I can't repeat here.

- Winona Ryder - For one, she's monotoned and for two she's annoying.

- Emilio Estevez - Borrrrrinnng.

- Teri Hatcher - Never liked her. Never will like her. Will never watch "Desperate Housewives" so long as she's in it.

- Jim Varner or Varney?... The dude who plays Ernest in the Ernest movies and played Jed Clampett in the 1990's movie "The Beverly Hillbillies".

- Julia Roberts and Katie Holmes (Katie's got the weirdest smile, as soon as she flashes it, for a split second I wonder if she's really a psychopath on the loose.)

I liked John Candy in most his movies. "Planes, Trains & Automobiles", like Buck5ley mentioned and "Uncle Buck" come immediately to mind. I'm torn on the Sandra Bullock front, because I've seen her act badly, but she's also in one of my favourite movies. I agree on the Sean Penn front. The man has the type of character that can bring goosebumps to your skin, but in everything I've seen him in, he's been believable, convincing, and made me empathize with his character, so he's on my "like" list.

I don't like a fair few. I can't stand Will Ferrell, Richy Gervais, or anyone like that. They're not funny, but offensive. Will Ferrell... urgh.

I love Sandra Bullock though. Mainly because she's gorgeous yet attainable. It's a teenage boy thing.

I don't particular like Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Jim Carrey or Hugh Grant.

However I think Jim Carrey was passable in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind so maybe he could develop as an actor if he takes more serious roles.

Hugh Grant can only play Hugh Grant. He only seems to have one character. The only movie I liked that he starred in was The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill and Came Down A Mountain and I think that movie would have been better if someone else had played the role Hugh Grant played.

I don't particularly like Leonardo DeCaprio. However he did give an outstanding performance as Arnie in What's Eating Gilbert Grape
