Since most things I wanted come standard on vehicles now (cruise control, a/c, cd player, power windows, automatic transmission), I specifically said I needed power side windows.
A few things that came on the new van that I hadn't asked for (but am now very attached to): it came with a first aid kit. It has all sorts of nifty stuff in it. I guess normal first aid stuff, gauze, scissors, band aids, tweezers, bandages, stuff like that. A lot of newer vehicles have the compass and thermometer that also shows other things, mine shows approximately how many miles I have left on that tank of gas. I LOVE that!! It also has a separate a/c for the back seats.

Besides all of the other bells and whistles it has, my dad's truck has a few buttons on the steering wheel. The important ones are for volume control and changing either radio stations or tracks on a cd. Those are great because you never have to take your eyes off the road while adjusting. Another one lets you see your average miles per gallon usage, how many miles until you need oil changed etc. I haven't played with the other one.
On the rearview mirror, it has a digital readout of outside temperature, which direction you are going, and lets you know if the road conditions are icy. The heating/airconditioning system has seperate controls for driver and passenger.
Sigh.. I love that truck..

I had friends years ago (80s) who had an electric car. It was good for going around town but couldn't charge long enough to go great distances. I have to laugh, when I read the subject line, for the second time I thought, what's in my car?? Ready to disclose all. hehehe Then it dawned on me....again! Oh well!

I have cup holders, not that I want them or will ever need them, but they are there.

ah ha, I bet you don't have the standard equipment on the New Beetle, the bud vase.
Someone got into my car the other day and raised their eyebrows as I don't have a flower in it all the time, but many women around here who drive them do.

I don't know about Europe, as I have never been there, but there are many cars that come with cup holders now, and depending on the car, it can be between two and five. Mine (a 2001 model) comes with four, two near the floor, one between the seats, and one in the flip-top "booster" seat. The 1996 car I had before only had two.

When we got the new van, we chose the make we wanted, and then went to the dealer and asked for the most stripped model on the lot. We ended up with a few bells and whistles that we could have done without, but the silliest one, to my way of thinking, is heated seats. I was sitting there the other day and thought that it was unusually warm inside the van. It took me a couple of minutes (of checking the air conditioning and such) before I realized that someone must have hit the button by accident - it was a most unpleasant sensation when it was 30 odd degrees outside. I figured, at first, that I was having a hot flash, but the presentation was a bit weird!

Ahhh... Power Windows (no reference to RUSH)... I remember as a child my Uncle Thomas from Chicago drove a HUGE navy blue Cadillac Fleetwood with EVERYTHING - Power Trunk, Power Seats, Power Antennae, etc. - a beautiful car to be envied by all. But what my siblings and I found most fascinating were the POWER WINDOWS - and we were constantly admonished by Uncle Thomas "Stop playing with those windows!". Now days power windows are taken for granted and I had a chance to drive my nieces and nephews around recently and was in my second car a 1989 Mercury Sable with crank down windows. The kids found this fascinating and soon into our drive I found myself scolding them... "Stop playing with those windows!". - Olathe_Joel
