Round 24 1. On September 24, 1948, the Honda Technical Research Institute, founded by engineer Honda Soichiro, offically became the Honda Motor Company. It became the unchallenged leader in motorcycle production, but most of the company's revenue now comes from automobiles. Name a model of automobile that bears the Honda name. 2. On September 24, 1936, Jim Henson was born. Name a film (movie or TV) that Jim Henson produced. 3. On September 24, 1989, Broadway theaters dimmed their lights in honor of Irving Berlin, who had died 2 days earlier at the age of 101. Name a song he wrote.(there are over 1500, so your chances of getting 10 points on this one is pretty good!) 4. On September 24, 1896, F. Scott Fitzgerald was born. Name one of his novels. 5. On September 24, 1931, actor Anthony Newley was born. He was also quite a prolific songwriter. Name a song he wrote. Have fun with the quiz! It will probably close Tuesday morning.

Round 2 results
Eight players too part.
1) Something that plugs into a computer, ie, a peripheral.
10 points- Telephone, USB Hub, keyboard, DVD Writer, microphone, printer.
5 points- Webcam (2)
2) The obligatory Scrabble question. Give me a three-letter word that has two 'A's.
10 points- Aas, aga
5 points- Aal (2), baa (2), ala (2)
3) My favourite radio station is WSFM (Sydney Australia). Who is a DJ there?
10 points- Ron E. Sparks
5 points- Steve Carline (2), Paul Holmes (3), Simon Carey (2)
4) Tell me a joke and punchline that fills in the gaps.
"How many ______ does it take to change a lightbulb?"
(NOTE to self- do NOT ask a question like this again- too much copying/pasting, lol)
10 points all, and what a lot of corny answers!
- Newfies don't change light bulbs, they only change dark bulbs
-TWO --> One Newfie holds onto the light bulb and the other Newfie rotates him.
- Microsoft employees
One dev to spend five minutes implementing ChangeLightBulbWindowHandleEx
One program manager to write the specification.
One localization expert to review the specification for localizability issues.
One usability expert to review the specification for accessibility and usability issues.
At least one dev, tester and PM to brainstorm security vulnerabilities.
One PM to add the security model to the specification.
One tester to write the test plan.
One test lead to update the test schedule.
One tester to write the test cases and add them to the nightly automation.
Three or four testers to participate in an ad hoc bug bash.
One technical writer to write the documentation.
One technical reviewer to proofread the documentation.
One copy editor to proofread the documentation.
One documentation manager to integrate the new documentation into the existing body of text, update tables of contents, indexes, etc.
Twenty-five translators to translate the documentation and error messages into all the languages supported by Windows. The managers for the translators live in Ireland (European languages) and Japan (Asian languages), which are both severely time-shifted from Redmond , so dealing with them can be a fairly complex logistical problem.
A team of senior managers to coordinate all these people, write the cheques, and justify the costs to their Vice President.
-4. Q: How many women with PMS does it take to change a light bulb?
A: One. Only ONE!! And do you know WHY? Because no one else in this house knows HOW to change a light bulb! They don't even know that the bulb is BURNED OUT! They would sit in the dark for THREE DAYS before they figured it out. And, once they figured it out, they wouldn't be able to find the light bulbs despite the fact that they've been in the SAME CUPBOARD for the past 17 YEARS! But if they did, by some miracle, actually find them 2 DAYS LATER, the chair they dragged to stand on to change the STUPID light bulb would STILL BE IN THE SAME SPOT!! AND UNDERNEATH IT WOULD BE THE WRAPPER THE STUPID LIGHT BULBS CAME IN! WHY? BECAUSE NO-ONE EVER CARRIES OUT THE GARBAGE! IT'S A WONDER WE HAVEN'T ALL SUFFOCATED FROM THE PILES OF GARBAGE THAT ARE 12' DEEP THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE. THE HOUSE! IT WOULD TAKE AN ARMY TO CLEAN THIS HOUSE!
I'm sorry ... what did you ask me?
-How many women with PMT does it take to change a lightbulb?
Three.
Why?
BECAUSE IT DOES!!!!!!!
- Midgets - poster did not provide a punchline, because of a hurricane...
but it was probably a good one..
- How many system administrators does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: None, they just deny everyone access to the area served by the light bulb in question.
-How many bureaucrats does it take to screw in a lightbulb? --Two. One to screw it in and one to screw it up.
5) A track off the classic album, 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap', by AC/DC.
10 points to everyone again.
'Ain't No Fun', 'Big Balls', 'Ride On', 'Problem Child', 'Squealer', 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap', 'Love At First Feel', 'Rocker'.
(NOT an album that you would give to your grandmother for Christmas! )
SCORES
45 points
- Mugaboo, Santana, Cinnam0n
40 points- ElfTwinkle, Ren, Gatsby
35 points- Gemini, Littlewoman.
How many Trivia Round winners does it take to change a lightbulb? Three, because they are bright... (sorry!)

My internet is back, sort of. Actually I'm pirating off of someone's signal, but because it is all in the name of the Forums, then it is a noble and worthy cause, I feel a bit like Robin Hood! Round XX - September 20th, 2005... The Results! 9 people played this round... Question I: Name an ingredient (of the patented version) of an "Alabama Slammer"... For 10 points: Orange Juice For 5 points: Amaretto (4), Sloe Gin (2), Southern Comfort (2) Not Mentioned: Bar Mix (which is a fancy way of saying lemon/lime juice) I had no idea that there were so many versions of this drink, but I've found some pretty weird combinations... Question II: Name a brand of single-malt whisky (or whiskey)... For 10 points: Aberlour, Linkwood, Talisker, Riedel, Glenlivet, Fettercairn For 5 points: Clontarf Not Accepted: Canadian Club - it is a rye, not single malt, as it is brewed in Canada, and they add rye to their malts. Any whiskey whose name begins with Glen- is a single malt, so are the Johnny Walkers, and many others. A single malt whiskey is brewed exclusively from 100% malt, but may be distilled several times, depending on the smoothness intended. Question III: Name a type of stemmed glass that can be found at a bar... For 10 points: Champagne flute, Parfait (Sour glass), White wine glass (which is different than a red wine glass), Paris Goblet (which seems to me an awful lot like a white wine glass), For 5 points: Brandy snifter (2), Champagne glass (2) Not Accepted: Shot glass, as it has no stem! Not mentioned: Martini glass, Red wine glass, Coffee glass, Question IV: Name a liqueur either orange-flavoured or flavoured with orange... For 10 points: Gran Torres, Strandier, Orange Curacao For 5 points: Grand Marnier (2), Cointreau (2), Aurum (2) Not mentioned: Blue Curacao, Triple Sec, DeKuyper, are among the most popular... Question V: Name an alcoholic cocktail that contains Tomato Juice... For 10 points: Vampiro/Vampire's Kiss, The Crying Game, 101 Degrees in the Shade (that one had me stumped!), Colorado Rattlesnake, Bloody Virgin Bull For 5 points: Bloody Mary (2), Bloody Caesar (2) Not Mentioned: Among the less nasty names - Carnegie Sunrise, Red Eye, Mickey Mouse, Banderas, Ugly, and Rooster Tail. The Results: Our winners: ren33 and Mugaboo with 40! points... The rest:35 points: ozzz2002, gatsby722, Santana2002, littlewoman2, and ElfTwinkle 30 points: Exit10 20 points: gemini19 Thanks to all for playing. Congratulations to ren33 and Mugaboo. Sorry for the delay. Have a great week!

Jeesh. In tracking the scores this month I thought I was doing pretty good. THEN I notice Mugaboo has two more points than me! Merciless. (Just kidding, for certain - great job! ) [I'll politely skip any rap lyrics about it as that would be merciless, too ].

Thanks for laying off the rap lyrics Gats. But if that was a ploy to let you win next month, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed I thought I was way behind after missing a few days earlier in the month, so I needed an effort to catch up. I nearly tore my hair out on a number of occasions I can tell you.

ROUND 30 - Friday, September 30thThe Fantasy RoundNo research required for this one, just bring your imagination. 1. You've been down on your luck for a while so you reach into your pocket for your last dollar and figure you may as well go ahead and purchase a lottery ticket. Later, while at home pondering which real estate company you want to sell your house with, you happen to glance at the TV and see, to your utter surprise and glee, that you have won the million dollar lottery jackpot. Using the numbers 1 through 20, what were the 3 lucky lotto numbers that have made you a millionaire? (for example: 3, 12, 19... and if any of you match someone else's numbers, I'd recommend running down and buying a lottery ticket more often. ) 2. You decide you want to do something with your new cash rather than just sit on it and watch it disappear. After paying off your debts, you enlist some of your closest friends and together start a small clothing company. Which group of people will your clothing line be geared toward? (i.e. Men, Children, tall people, short people etc.) 3. Your little clothing company has benefitted from great advertising and lots of exposure and your clothes are now the talk of the town. Your story has landed on the desk of a huge Hollywood production company and they have approached you about making a "Rags-To-Riches" movie about your life. You agree on the condition that you get to choose the actor or actress who will portray you on screen. Which living actor/actress (with acting credits to his or her name already) would you choose to play you on screen? 4. You are stressed out and stretched to the limit between the clothing line, the movie, and the new book you are writing, so you decide to take a short ocean vacation away from everyone. While on your large yacht enjoying a marvellous day on the ocean, you inadvertently discover a new island nation. Oddly enough, once you've made your way to the shore to greet the natives, you realize that the language they are speaking is one you've heard before. What language is spoken on this island? 5. You return from your vacation (and startling discovery) and you decide that clothing is just not what you want to do with your life. You sell your shares in the company to your partners and go out and land a job with Walt Disney Studios. Your very first day you are assigned to work on the remake of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves". After some brainstorming and several complaints about the odd number of dwarves, you and your team decide to call the movie "Snow White and the Eight Dwarves". Your particular task for the movie is to design the dwarves' costumes and name the 8th dwarf. The costume animation part is a breeze, but what do you name the 8th dwarf? (The name cannot be one of the names already used for the other 7 dwarves*, and no one has told you the dwarf can't be female. ) *The original 7 dwarves were: Happy, Grumpy, Bashful, Sneezy, Sleepy, Dopey, and Doc. Okay, have fun with these and I'm here if you need anything.
