So you've caught the "counting-down-to-the-next-episode" bug, eh?

Did anyone else notice the LOGO on the shark?

That same logo that was all over everything inside the hatch...

I'm starting to think this whole island is some rich mad scientist's "I'm-a-multi-millionaire-and-have-nothing-better-to-do-with-my-money-than-buy-a-big-island-and-mess-with-people's-minds" type of messed up experiement. Like "The Island of Dr. Moreaux" to the extreme. It explains the logo, explains the hatch, explains the people who took Walt and wouldn't let the raft people leave, explains the monster/security system, explains frickin' polar bears on a tropical island... oh, man this is so intriguing.

What I am wanting very badly to know is exactly how many people are on the island...I do not mean individuals, I am talking groups.

We know that Rousseau and her crew were shipwreckd (?) on the island, which somehow had to do with the "numbers". And we also learned, when she told Sayid, that she had to kill her crew due to sickness.

We also learned about Ehtan in season one, and most of us (or maybe just me) thought that Ethan was with Rousseau...however, that is turning out not to be so (at least from what I am gathering watching season two). I only say that because when Rousseau was talking with the survivors of Oceanic 815 (our survivors that we have watched week and week out in season one) when she warned them that the Others were coming, she would have questioned about what happened to Ethan, which she did not do...so at least for me, I can safely rule out that Ethan and Rousseau were together.

Now Desmond appears...this is getting very, very strange, as it appears he "popped" out of Jack's past. However, did anyone notice how it was only Jack that recognised Desmond? And down in the hatch, while he had a gun pointed at Locke (who was helping Kate) he asked Locke "are you he?" We (at least I know I did) assumed that Desmond was or would have been referring to Jack. Desmond appeared to have no recognition of having met Jack before...outside the island. Hmmm...very odd, don't you think? Once it became clear to me that it wasn't was Jack to whom Desmond was referring, I began to think that it is Hurley that Desmond is looking for...rember the numbers? The nubmers that Hurley played to win the lottery add up to 108..the exact number that once Desmond had Locke enter Hurley's winning lottery numbers, the very same numbers that Rosseau said she kept hearing over and over on her ship, into the computer...was time on the island reset? Who really knows. But one thing I am almost sure of is that it is Hurley who Desmond wants.

Terry, you must have very excellent vision or you must have taped and kept watching over and over again that ocean scene to have caught that...Kudos to you for letting us know something we may have missed.

And did you see the Others when Sawyer and Michael finally made it back to the island? And Jin, how the heck did they get Jin? Did Jin swim back only be overtaken and held captive? Did you notice Sawyer's look of shock when he saw the Others?

And the preview at the end for next week's episode...my goodness...they finally meet some of the survivors from the tail end of the Oceanic 815...but notice how Anna Lucia is in a hole with a bamboo thatch! How very primitative, but yet, Desmond has a computer, electricity, running water etc...Hmmm

What the heck is going on with that island...

And what if anything with will happen to Jack, Locke, and Kate...

I get the eerie feeling that Hurley and Rousseau know much more than what they are saying.

OK, I'm new to LOST. I didn't watch it at all during the first season, and figured I should watch it because it seemed so popular. I watched last night's episodes and understood the general idea (I think). But what or who are the "Others"? Or is that something that everyone is wondering? Can anyone give me a crash "course" on what's going on (e.g. what generally happened in season 1)?

I get it that 43 people (or that's what Jon(?) said last night) were in a plane crash and crashed on the island, but that's about it.

Thanks!

Trekker the best thing I can say is for you to find someone that has the "LOST" DVD and see if they would be willing to lend it to you so you could watch all of last season...that is really the only way to even attempt to catch up as it were.

That is what I did...I didn't watch it at all last season, but watched the DVD and now I'm hooked and cannot wait until next week!

If I was stuck on a deserted island with all those people with no electricity and only fish and whatever other food they had I'd want to get off and quick, but Locke seems to like it on the island, what planet is he from.

Yep, I agree the best way to get caught up is to just watch the first season. There is no quick explanation of what's going on, there's too much backstory and subtle stuff--like paying attention to who's on tv in the background of another character's scene, and just how many times can we see those darn numbers in one episode, anyway --for it to be easily understood.

If you like reading websites, this one is really good:
Lost-media. com
They have episode synopses, character descriptions, and lots of other good stuff.

You can get the DVDs at Blockbuster. We actually watched all of them recently A 4 day Lost marathon!

Still have season 2 episode 1 on Tivo... that beginning sequence of that dude in the hatch is the coolest darn thing I've seen on tv...

<< Now Desmond appears...this is getting very, very strange, as it appears he "popped" out of Jack's past. However, did anyone notice how it was only Jack that recognised Desmond? >>

Maybe it's me, but there's something wrong with the whole hatch thing. In the first episode of this season with the guy making a smoothie, the interior seemed different. His hair seemed different... it didn't look like it was Desmond to me. When Jack and Locke head down there, it looks completely different.

Also, it looks to me like Desmond is waiting for someone to come and take his place in the hatch. Perhaps that is Hurley?

Also, not sure if you noticed, but the number 108 which is appearing over and over is the sum of the numbers.

I read somewhere that maybe Desmond thought Locke was his replacement. Replacement for what? I don't know. But I LOVED Kate's face when that music started playing. She looked absolutely horrified and was like,"What the hell?" And the fact that she took all those candy bars. Now that's smart thinking.

For some strange reason I am not looking forward to the whole Ana Lucia thing, and I think it's because for the short period of time that they showed her in season one she kinda annoyed me. *sigh* Oh, well.

I felt so bad for Michael, especially during his flashbacks. I really think Walt's mother was selfish. She kept telling Michael to consider what's best for Walt but she's the one who took him away from his father to further her career. Not that she shouldn't have a career but she could've at least tried to work something out so Michael could see his son. If my mom never told me anything about my father or the fact that he wanted to be a part of my life, I would be SO mad. Poor Walt.

And Charlie making faces at Aaron? *CUTE* But he is so going to relapse...

I'm guessing Desmond is waiting for his replacement to stay in the hatch and execute the numbers and keep the island "running" smoothly. God knows if I've been trapped in there for months, maybe years, I'd be desperatly wishing my replacement would arrive soon as well.

Phewwww, I thought I was the only one who didn't like this Ana Lucia chick... maybe it's because I don't like the actress Michelle Rodriguez, or maybe it's because the character came off so smug and annoying, but I'm with Lilly on this one... no thank you to Ana Lucia.

Awww, I know. Poor guy. When he was sobbing on the raft was so heart breaking. Did you notice the little polar bear teddy Michael bought as a going away present for Walt? What is the significance of these polar bears? They're everywhere; on the island, on Hurley's comic book, Walt's teddy. Sheesh.

We just watched episode number 2 of season 2. And new episodes normally air every Wednesday at 9 p.m. eastern time.

Last night I rewatched "Deus Ex Machina" from Season 1. I think I figured something out about the hatch from this episode. In the beginning of that episode, we see in Locke's flashback that he is working in a toy store. A little boy comes up to him as he is setting up the game Mouse Trap. He explains the game to the little boy, and tells him to start the trap, then Locke's mother appears asking about footballs. Locke tells her that aisle 8 is for regulation footballs and that aisle 15 is for nerf footballs. Then they show the Mouse Trap catching the mouse, and immediately show Locke and the hatch. I think the hatch is some kind of trap. A trap for what, I don't know.

I keep thinking about "Adrift", especially the end when Sawyer and Michael hear and then see Jin running toward them with his arms bound behind him on a bamboo pole. When he falls to the ground and Sawyer and Michael undo him, he begins yelling "Others...Others" and then Michael and Sawyer look up and they (and we) see the Others.

The others look like they are wearing primative clothing and carrying primative weapons. We know that Ethan used a primative weapon in the episode "Homecoming" in Season 1...Ethan used a sling to hit Jin with a stone in his chest. Let's just say, for the sake of saying it, that Ethan was with the dreaded Others. Ethan could have found the clothes he was wearing from the dead bodies in the tail end of the plane, and then infiltrated our survivors' camps.

Did anyone else notice that Desmond shot at the vent that Kate was looking out of? It was like he knew she was there.

Also, why didn't Locke just stab Desmond with the knife? Instead, Locke handed over that huge knife to Desmond. Grant it, Desmond had a gun, but Locke is so proficient with the knives, that when he took it out Locke could have flung it at him and then ducked to prevent being shot at. At least then Desmond wouldn't have the upperhand.

How did Jin get to shore? Did he swim in the dark? Was he picked up by the Others? Or, (and this may seem farfetched) did the shark with the logo take him to shore?

You and Lilly are not the only ones who don't like Ana Lucia. She ran my nerves in the Season 1's finale, and seeing her in the bamboo covered hole, saying "Flight 815" annoyed me. I hope her contract is not picked up for Season 3, and I can only hope her character gets killed off either at the end of Season 2 or the beginning of Season 3.

I so hope that ABC will re-air episode 2 on Wednesday at 8...I can only hope!

I think I must have missed something in season one. Who is Ana Lucia?

I though the second episode of the season was simply brilliant . I of course expected the episode to talk about why Desmond is there, but instead, it spent an equal amount of time between the people on the fast sinking raft and what happenned between the time Locke went down and Jack went down. I love the little touch with the shoes.

DakotaNorth, Locke probably didn't use the knife becuase A. He wanted to learn more, B. He wasn't sure that Desmond was really a threat.

At the end of the episode, I was so sad becuase I really can't wait week until I find out about the others . This is quite possible the only show that I have ever been so caught up in that I really can't bear to miss even one episode. I wish there were more shows like this on TV.

I say again though, it had better be worth it. I hope the creators have an explanation for all of these puzzels and are not just making everything up as they go along.

I love lost too and can't miss an episode but I'd have to say I love CSI (original one)a little bit more.

Eytank, Ana Lucia is a lady that Jack met at the bar in the airport before the doomed flight. She told him she was sitting at the back of the plane and Jack said he was at the front of the plane. They flirted a little bit and she invited him to the back on the plane to have a drink with her during the flight. Do you remember that at all? It happened in the second to last episode of season one, called "Exodus".

The writers have said several times that viewers will not be disappointed with what's to come, and that the next episode (episode 3) will "blow us away"... I won't say anything else, but, they better not be bluffing.

"Lost" and "CSI" are my two favorite shows of all time! (I don't watch the Miami or New York ones)But I'm a little more obsessed with "Lost".

I really thought I was the only one who was not looking forward to Ana Lucia! Hooray for not being alone! I'm starting to think it's both the character and the actress. And I'm not sure about the other newbies. I like the chick from "Titus" because...well, she was in "Titus"! But I hope she doesn't crush on Jack. Yes, the man is handsome, very handsome, but come. on. He'll have his hands full with Kate and Ana. She should totally go for Hurley cuz he's adorable!

FYI: Don't know how true this is, but rumor has it that Charlie and Claire are supposed to "heat up" this season and I am way excited! Aw, even their names are cutsie matchy.

Well the actors who play Charlie and Claire are an item in real life...or so I've heard. Personally 'Adrift' was a much stronger episode than the last one and you could get away with not watching the season opener as 'Adrift' had so much footage used from the first episode.

Dom and Emilie are much cuter together. (Sorry, Evie!) Anyway, according to this week's US Weekly (so who knows how true it is) Walt was speaking backwards and, in fact, was saying, "Press the button. No button is bad." Oookay. There's also some other little hints they discuss if anyone is interested.

I knew it! I knew it! All my thoughts about what the island came out last night...A cross between the "Island of Dr. Moreau" and a governmental experiment!

However, I still have not figured out exactly who the Others are. However, we did get to learn a bit more about Locke, which, I think is a good thing.

Also, since we know the shark and all the food and Desmond clothing had the same symbol, we now know that everything that we have seen thus far is associated with the Dharma Experiment...including the polar bears! Again, what about the others??

And did you see that sneak Ana Lucia?! What the heck is up with her assaulting Sawyer and taking his gun? She seems to be too chummy with the Others.

Wish next week would get here fast!
