No wedding but a quickie marriage in a JP's office in the middle of a rainstorm on New Year's Eve day. I didn't cry at all until I reached the judge's office and saw my best friend (who was there to stand up for me) and then I just bawled. Not having a traditional wedding with Kleenex handy I had to duck into a nearby supply closet to compose myself and could only find coffee filters to dab my eyes! As for the song we would have had played if we'd had a "traditional" wedding we chose "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" by Bryan Adams - a la 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves'. I know it's corny and not my style but it still chokes me up whenever I hear it ~ good thing it's usually only in elevators and grocery stores!!

My husband proposed in May and we were married that July. We didn't have a song until about a week before the wedding-- after I saw Lionel Ritchie on Oprah. He sang "Truly", I LOVED it and ran to look up the lyrics and it fit.

I danced with my father to "Southern Cross" by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young because it reminded me of being out on his boat. :-)

Overall, The key to wedding songs is finding ones that fit your style.
(I know a mother and son that danced to "smoke on the water" at the son's wedding!)
