For those in the UK the clocks go back an hour tonight.

Not sure what happens in the rest of the world, when and if they change.

Thanks Sue, I'd completely forgotten we go forward tonight.

This must be the only time large parts of mainland Australia can say we've been looking forward to catching up to Tasmania!

Yay! I get that hour of sleep back I lost in April.

Arizona, Hawaii, and most of Indiana don't change here in the US.

Don't count on it, their body clocks soon adjust.

Give him a book to read I used to give my early waker a drink and a biscuit in her cot (in a plastic tub at the foot of the cot) then ignore her playing with the activity centre.

We go forward, so now instead of getting up at 4am for a morning shift, I have to get up at 3!

Hopefully my body clock will adjust as quickly as Conor's.

Actually Copago, my daughter used to be a really early riser (which is hysterical, given how late she sleeps now). As soon as there was any hint of light in her room she woke. We tried room darkening blinds and curtains, but although that helped a little, it was only a little.
Finally when she was about 2 1/2 we got her a digital alarm clock. We told her that she couldn't get up until the first number said 7, but she could play quietly in her room with her books and toys. It worked like a charm.

Here in the US, we turn our clocks back an hour.
I never could remember which was which until I heard the phrase, (that's used to help you remember), "Spring forward, fall back."

Pity the poor nightshift workers who have to do an extra hour tonight. I used to work in power stations and it always felt unfair - especially as nightshift was the most onerous shift anyway!

I do sympathise with those on the night-shift, but I have to say that the insomniac in me is feeling a lot better to have woken up at 5 instead of 4 this morning...now if I could just get the derned insomniac out of me...

It is really hard for us in Western Australia (Wait Awhile) as we don't have daylight saving which as from today we are 3hrs behind instead of 2hrs most of Australia

The usual debate about whether the clocks should be put back an hour was on the radio a couple of days ago. Someone suggested a compromise. Put them back by 30 minutes and leave it at that forever. I could live with that.

For those that prefer to see their posts in local time, go to 'My Home' on the top bar of this window, select 'Display preferences, number of shown topics, languages, colors'.. Edit, and adjust time offset from FT server time.

For example, I have reset mine to 18 hours ahead of FT time.

All in all I'm in favour of it, and appreciate not having to get up so early in winter, but rising 'earlier' in summer. I tend to wake up at dawn anyway, and don't like lying in bed once I've woke up.
I'm sure too there's still a considerable national energy saving as a result of this practice.
