Here's some trivia for you. (All of it came from the Entertainment Weekly's "The 100 Greatest Movies of All Time" on the shelf right now (I hope I'm allowed to quote these.). I'm afraid I can't take credit for knowing these facts off the top of my head - although I guess I do now.) By the way, anyone want to guess what movie made #32?! Oh, that one is just too easy!

King Kong - For the 1938 rerelease, RKO was forced to cut some of the more violent scenes (such as stomping on a villager and chomping on a New Yorker).

The Graduate - Anne Bancroft (the "older woman") was actually only 6 years older than Hoffman in real life.

It's a Wonderful Life - this was Stewart's first movie after coming back from WWII.

Beauty and the Beast - the animator had Jackie Gleason in mind when illustrating the Beast.

Tootsie - The title of the movie came from Hoffman - his mother "used to throw me up in the air and say, 'How's my tootsie wootsie?'"

The Shop Around the Corner [Linda's note: I love this movie!] - Stewart kept messing up his lines in the final scene when he shows his legs. He had to redo the scene 48 times - the most in his career.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - this was the 1st American feature-length cartoon. Trial names for the dwarfs were (get this!) Hoppy, Scrappy, Crabby, Blabby, Hotsy, Shifty, Awful, Biggy-Wiggy, and Neurtsy. ["Biggy-Wiggy"???!!!]

Some Like It Hot - Tony Curtis joked that the love scenes with Marilyn were like "kissing Hitler."

Gone With the Wind - "Frankly my dear...." almost became "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a hoot," "It has become of no concern to me," or "It makes my gorge rise."

The Godfather - the horse head was real - scouts found a horse in NJ that was scheduled for slaughter and had the head shipped to the set in dry ice.

Hi

Just a note re the Godfather trivia - the guy playing Woltz (he who wakes up with the head in his bed!) didn't know the horse's head would be real - in rehearsals it was fake - so he was screaming for real **shudder**

Blessings

Ooooooo....!! I hadn't heard that part of the story before! I'm not sure just screaming is all I would do!
