I saw the Matrix last night for the first time (on DVD, no less). Very cool movie! Does anyone have any idea how it fared in the theater?

Over here..across the pond. The Matrix went to No.1 in the cinemas partly because it came out just before Star Wars. Excellent film, can't wait for the 2 sequels.

I saw this movie over the weekend. I enjoyed it. At first I had a hard time understanding what was going on because I missed the first 15 minutes or so. But I re-round it after it was over. Quite thought provocking. Sometimes I wonder if that is really like it is.

sypher?? Ironic....that was a guy in the Matrix

I love this movie....one of my top five of all time I think. It stayed in the theater for several months and did very well.

I like this movie because of the camera work. Remember that scene when Neo goes to see Morpheus for the first time? The rain falling from the building is great, then that scene is followed up by them going up the stairs as the camera spirals away. Great stuff!

The acting was good too. Fishbourne is the man. I ususally don't like Reeves on general principle, but he was pretty good here.

Everything that happens in the movie, everything that everyone tells Neo (the oracle NEVER told him that he was NOT the one) is to get him to believe in himself. Great message.

Enough of my raving, you guys must be tired of it by now. But let me give you my best reason for liking this movie. When Morpheus is held captive, the head agent talks about evolution.

"you humans are not like other mammals. You multiply until you consume every resourse and then you spread to another area. You destroy and give nothing to anyone else. There is another lifeform that behaves as you do.....a virus. You humans are a disease, a cancer on the Earth......and we are the cure."

Is the endpoint of evolution a selfish lifeform that will always destroy itself in the end? Is this why we have no evidence for ET's? What do you guys think about that?

Heavy talk Deth !! I think that question belongs in controversial.

I didn't know there was a guy named Sypher in the Matrix. It has only just come out on Video here. (since I don't own a DVD player yet).
Must Buy IT....I could watch that film over and over again.
I love the Martial Arts fight between Keanu & Larry.
Also when they entered the building with their jackets full of guns.
10/10 for the film.

Hi there. I've seen the Matrix three times in the cinema and I realy loved it. I think it's one of the best movies ever made. I think it's even better then the new Star Wars movie.

It's a good thing that they are going to make two sequels, 'cause I'm realy looking forward to it.

In Holland the Matrix isn't out yet on video, so the only thing I can do is to talk about it.

I too loved The Matrix. The DVD has so much behind the scenes footage it is amazing. I have seen the movie about 5 times and I enjoyed it each time. As for SW:The Phantom Zzzzz......... What was I saying? Oh yea, Episode one. It was so bad I actually considered walking out. I didn't like it at all and I'm a big Star Wars fan.

I quite liked this movie, too. What I found really interesting was the Bullet-Time (TM) photography technique that was used often in the film (intro scene w/ Trinity kicking police officer, Neo/Morpheus fight, Neo/Smith fight, Morpheus shot in leg in office building, ... ). I like the effect that is adds, it's really ... neato. You can check it out at www.whatisthematrix.com if it interests you at all.

Sensational fillum. I've seen it 6 times and each time I enjoy it more than the last.
I love the message to Neo that controlling your thoughts to such a degree gives you the power to do things you never thought were possible. As the old saying goes: To know yourself is the ultimate form of aggression. How much do each of us really know about ourselves? How much more could we do if we used our minds to exercise absolute control over our bodies? Could we punch through brick walls? We've all seen it done on things like Guinness world records. Could we heal our own wounds? Could we use the power of our minds to influence our environment? The power of a few minds gave us the Internet.
What is real? What you can see, feel, taste, smell and touch is simply electrical signals interpretted by your brain.
All that happens automatically. What if we were able to alter the interpretation? What would we see, hear, feel, smell and taste?
What of time? Is it a concept or a perceivable event? Can we alter our perceptions of it by willpower? Just what is the mind capable of?

The Matrix has become my favorite movie. I particularly enjoyed the philosophical and religious elements in the film; they were handled subtly but powerfully. There are wonderful layers of meaning in the movie.
Plus it is visually beautiful, and I like how it was greenlit!

Pretty deep chit-chat chatrat! It is mind bogglling, isn't it? The thing that always gets me is, how can the universe go on and on and on and on? Everything has to end sometime, but if the universe did end, what would there be after that??? Blank canvas???

I love the Matrix, I saw it 4 times when my brother rented it out. Do you think we are swimming round in pink goo? Nah,... It'd have to be green goo.

"The Matrix is the world which has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth."
