I'm counting down the days. It opens here on Friday.
We're planning on going to see it next weekend at the drive-in. It's so cold that there's hardly anybody there this time of year, and it will be playing (I've checked).
Of course if it rains we're in trouble, and won't have any advanced tickets for the regular theatre, which will be sold out by then! So keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't rain here!

The movie opens here on December first. I can't wait. I'm planning to get advance tickets and go see it at the cinema after school. It should be really good!

Totally agree. I have higher hopes for this one because the third installment was a slight improvement over the first two. Of course they're switching directors like mad anyhow...

I think we are planning on going into the city and watching it on IMAX. Haven't quite decided yet - it would be my daughter's early birthday party, let her take a few friends. I see they still have tickets for the afternoon of the 19th - that would work.

Opens here tonight! I'm dying to see it. Very surprised that my 8-year old isn't keen - 'I'll wait till it comes out on DVD, Mum!' Still, that's not going to stop me getting down to the flicks on Saturday!

Well in a way the DVD is always better than the films, because of the extras Not sure when I am going to see it, soon hopefully, quite looking forward to it. I do like the films, but the books are so much better

It opens here tonight too. We're going to see it at a drive-in movie tomorrow night, weather providing. It will be cold, but that means not crowded. As long as there's no precipitation or fog, we'll be fine.

We saw it Sunday morning at the closest IMAX. If you have a chance to, I suggest seeing it this way. Seeing Voldemort in all his glory on a 5 story screen is pretty cool.

Okay, I'm not looking for spoilers or anything (I've read the books), but it's showing for age 12 upwards here, and my 10 year old wants to go. I presume that age limit is because this story is much more 'black' than what has gone before, and because of the happenings at the end of the last challenge. Of those who have seen the film so far, would your opinion be that it's better to leave my daughter behind when I go to see it or not?

Hmmm, that depends on the child. I know lots of 10 year olds who could handle it nicely, and a few who couldn't, which doesn't really help you much, I know.
There are some pretty intense moments, some of which are pretty emotionally laden. These deal with death and the brief reappearance of his parents, helping out in a life-threatening situation.
There's other, action packed scenes at the beginning as well, but they didn't strike me as being quite as impactful. Although there are a couple of jumpy, scary moments (swimming along and something grabs him).
Hope this helps.

SPOILERS BELOW!

Well, re. taking a 10-year-old, if the child has read Book 4 without nightmares, I think she would be fine. If she is very sensitive and has lots of fears I might not take her. I will say, too, that I cried at one point (when Cedric's dad realizes that his beloved son is dead dead). I think this is the best movie so far--it has the wittiest dialogue, for sure, and not all of it is lifted straight from the book. I LOVED the part when the Beaux Batons and Durmstrang (is that right?) students arrive--it is FABULOUS!! Oh, and Rita Skeeter played by Miranda Richardson stole the show! I hope they keep this writer and director for the last three movies. This is the only movie that halfway measured up to the books, in my opinion.

Cheers,
Robyn

The movie hasn't been released in Australia yet. But I can't wait! I am counting down the days.

I don't feel like summarizing again. Good stuff though, just a little shy of Prisoner.

Thank you all for your comments and very nicely summarised, Xssassin. I'm leaning towards bringing her along with me, as I think she'll cope with the surprises well enough and not get too frightened. Will let you all know my opinion when I get to see it (in about another month, I believe).

I asked my almost 14 year old daughter her thoughts on bringing younger kids, and she agreed with the others here. If the child has read the book, knows what to expect, and is not a fearful child, it should be fine. She also told me that there were a couple of places where she herself didn't watch - having read the book and knowing what comes next made all the difference.

I watched it yesterday and came out feeling a trifle disappointed. Howwever, I don't want to beat the bush and say "UTTERLY DISSAPOINTED, HORRIBLE FILM" etc. It isn't. "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" is a great film with fantastic special effects and good performances.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid, Prisoner of Azkaban will still rank as my favourite. I don't want to be rude or anything, but I just felt that here, the focus was more on action than anything else. It seemed the dialogues were only there as they had to be there. The fact that dialogue is such a great tool to move the story forward was just not used, in my opinion. And as Xassasin said, the finale of the film, though amazing,(Ralph Fienes is wonderful) just didn't connect with me in a way the "Chamber of Secrets" and to a lesser extent, "Prisoner of Azkaban" did.

By the way, Fleur looks brilliant and Emma was looking dashing in the Yule Ball !

Watched it first day first show, and came out quite satisfied. Newell did some really interesting work of animation there, and I just loved the new humor theme in the middle of the movie.

Well, you just cannot go in there expecting all of your favorite scenes to be shown, one needs to learn that from the first 3 parts. But this one really had me on the edge of the seat, even though i knew - the daragon couldn't dare touch harry, - harry just could not drown, - ****** was going to be dead, - and at last, Voldie was coming.

The last word : not my favorite though, but surely a great joy ride. Far better than the last one.

I saw the movie a few days ago. As someone who's read the books, I was more disappointed with this version than the previous three films. Had they adapted more to the screen, I would have sat through another 45 minutes. However, for those only following the story via the movie series, I think this film would come off as very good.

hmmmmmm, Saw it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is extremely difficult to turn a 636 page novel into a feature length film, and keep all the scenes from the book intact.

Most disappointing was the lack of footage from the Quidditch World Cup. I think the Krum character suffered from not being built up enough, and the Veela were never explained, missing the point of Ron's crush on Fleur.

I loved director Mike Newell's other films (4 Weddings and a Funeral) and I think he did a tremendous job.

Would of liked to have seen Filch be more of his sinister miserable self, than the bumbling buffoon he is in this one.("I do miss the screamin'.")

Loved Cho's accent.

Seen it, and personally my favourite of all the series. They could had worked more with the Quidditch World Cup, a little too much swearing...although maybe it was needed...but a definate 9 out of 10

I was wondering, since it is rated M in Australia, do you think they'd let anyone under fifteen in? And if they do should you take them?
