Starting a new thread over in The Lounge about this as it is a bit off topic (topic being making Muslim visitors comfortable).

Just had a laugh while reading this; I was remembring a trick I had while working in the detective office of a large police station in Toronto. We used to feed prisoners (that is anyone being investigated and under arrest)McDonald's for their meals. (I know, what about cruel and unusual punishment....) Being a young and hungry fellow, I would always volunteer to go next door to pick up the meals if we had a muslim in during lunch. I would take the Big Mac and fries in to them, and ask if they would like their food, knowing full well that they would say no, so free lunch for me! That being said, any number of non muslims would also refuse, so not a bad detail most days!

Wouldn't want it to go to waste!

Speaking of different cultures, I have travelled extensively, and the one thing that stood out in Australia is that, while polite, Aussies don't say please and thank you with the frequency we Canadians do. I think that makes us annoyingly polite, as opposed to making Aussies rude.

We also generally go to Mc Donalds to feed out prisoners as well. They should consider doing a commercial based on the prisoners preferences.

Do burglars prefer Bi Macs ? Or do killers lean towrd the fish filets ??

They are arriving in January Copago, I like to be prepared months in advance! I`m not sure if they eat McDonalds btw.

McD's still sell those apricot pies down there? I sure liked 'em. We only get apple and blueberry...

Well the guests arrived a couple of days ago and things are going well.

Presents were handed out to Natasha,Lily and myself the first day and everyone has settled in nicely.

The utter normality of the guests has caused me to relax.

I have certainly used many of the sensible suggestions posted by members in this thread and am positve they helped, to a degree anyway.

Sitting in my computer room [not after being driven here but I`m just sure that Lily and the guests are a little happier to chat with each other in Serbian, plus I`m a little shy in a room with three women and only me these days ] I have been inundated with a steady stream of various European dishes served up . I could get used to this.
