As a Pre -Christmas Present My Husband has purchased for me a Flat screen TV. I have looked but can't seem to find much information on this Brand.
Does anyone at FT have one or might know something about them?
I admit I am a brand snob and wary about brands that have little or no info on them.That sounds like I am ungrateful but I just want to be cautious.I am very excited about it.
I hope someone can help.

PF, like you, I'm a bit weary of buying products that aren't from a well-known brand with a good reputation, and since I've been trying to get a certain someone to buy me a flat screen TV, I've been forced to hunt around for the best deals and quality... anywho, here's what I do know about this brand (and there isn't much info out there on it, this is more observational info from my hunt for a TV):

- Digistar is a brand that is exclusive to Wal-Mart.
- On average, it's products retail at around $500 less than its brand name counterparts. (To put this into context for you, a 27" Flat screen TV from brands such as Toshiba, Panasonic, JVC, and Samsung retail around $1200 to upwards of $1600.)
- The picture quality and sound are not of extremely good quality, but for an extra $500 in your pocket, you can't really complain.
- Overall, I'd give the Digistar TV's a B-. I've seen slightly better, I've seen much better, and I've seen much worse. So, I'd say enjoy it... oh, and hint to your husband that the extra $500 or so could go toward something else. Just kidding, of course.

I have it hooked up now and it looks ok .
Will wait and see but for that price I guess I can't be picky.
I know LCD's flat screens are really pricey but I don't need one of those.

You get PRE Christmas presents?

I got the tv before Christmas as it was on sale and the price was right.
I dont usually get Pre-Christmas presents this was just a one time thing.

hi all --on pre-christmas gifts
when my wife was alive, i always was buying things throughout the year that i intended to give as christmas/birthday presents but having had the thrill of finding what i considered would fit her (mentally, emotionally, aesthetically, etc.), i just couldn't wait and would show her the present(s) and then i would have to give it to her right then and so i would still need to buy her a christmas/birthday [plus the spontaneous whatevers] present (again) for christmas/birthday.
i guess i was so pleased about what i hoped to be the aptness of the present that i just couldn't wait to give it to her and so she always got pre-christmas and pre-birthday etc. presents.
on her part, her presents always came beautifully wrapped (mine didn't but came fresh from purchase minus the few days i could wait).
my best gifts to her were probably another bachelor's degree in art and an m.f.a in painting.
