The past five years we have purchased wall mounted calenders that have had pictures of Spaniels of different breeds with quotes from various dog lovers.

`Tis sweet to hear the watch-dog`s honest bark
Bay deep-mouth`d welcome as we draw near home;
`tis sweet to know there is an eye will mark
Our coming, and look brighter when we come.
Lord Byron

Near this spot are deposited the remains of one who possessed Beauty without Vanity, Strength without Insolence, Courage without Ferocity, and all the Virtues of Man without his Vices. This praise, which would be unmeaning , Flattery, if described over human ashes, is but a just Tribute to the Memory of Boatswain, a dog.
John Cam Hobhouse

One of the animals which a generous and sociable man would soonest become is a dog. A dog can have a friend; he has affections and character; he can enjoy equally the field and the fireside; he dreams, he caresses, he propitiates; he offends and is pardoned; he stand by you in Adversity; he is a good fellow.
Leigh Hunt

This year we will no doubt get one that features American Cocker Spaniels, with more wisdom about dogs printed at the bottom of the page, that will hang in the kitchen.

What type of calender are you going to buy ?

I bought, of course, the SPCA Dogs, as usual. I usually get calenders sent to me from all sorts of wonderful places where friends live. Last year I got nude men in Jersey from Sue, and a lovely one of views of Australia. I also got Views of Crete, again from Sue.

Well, we don't usually have a calendar at home, because we just use our computers, and don't really have a spot for a calendar, and at work, the three of us in our smallish office get more free calendars from various business partners than we can actually use, so we don't buy calendars for work, either. However, in the past I had mostly Ferret calendars. This year, though, is a bit of a departure from all the years we've lived in THIS house. My husband has a girly calendar in the garage. You know, the type that features scantily clad women lounging on hotrods or muscle cars... Well, my husband is not a gearhead. He's a guitarhead. And he bought a Guitar magazine, allegedly for the guitar and amp reviews. It happened to feature Playboy Playmates showing off the gear, and came with a pullout calendar. So now, there is a Playboy Playmates calendar hanging in our garage above his Fender amp and Ibanez guitar case, and he insists that he's more impressed with the guitars. He's allowed to keep it, because the Playmates are all clothed, if barely.

Had polar bears last year, but have bought wolves for next year - beautiful creatures.

I bought a Thomas Kinkade calendar from a coworker of mine. Her son was doing a fundraiser.

I always have at least two - one Andrex calendar (but this year I shall be having a desk top one, and a big wall one) and I always make myself one for myself, to remind myself what I have to do in the month!

There are several in this household. My horse-crazy daughter has a calendar with horses adorning every page, my son has a really wonderful calendar full of pictures of painted cats. Whether or not you approve of doing this to an animal you will surely admire the work for it's own merit. The calendar which will adorn the kitchen and get the most use, recording the comings and goings of the various members of this household will be of Antipodean origin (if Mr Postman ever gets around to delivering it ), and is sure to have plenty of wonderful photos of Australia, thus firing even more strongly my wish to one day visit that far-off land

Apart from that we have already had the freeby calendars from the oil-delivery company, the pharmacy and the fire services (which we donate to each year).

Mine is fairly obvious - Scotties, of course! However, as our calendar spends its life with the picture folded back so we can get at the dates, it's really rather superfluous. Missed the boat & not ordered it this year, so will be bidding for one on ebay.

Before anyone gets the wrong idea, the 'naked men' were carefully posed as to show no naughty bits and were all employees of the local supermarket raising money for charity!

As for my calendar, I will use anything which is sent to me! If I don't receive any then I guess I will look in the January sales for one. When buying calendars I try to find charity ones.

I too had the "Naked Men"one, the Australia one and the Crete one.
This year I am hoping for a Anne Geddes One as I adore her work.I have several of her framed pictures scattered around on all the walls of our Apart.
Other than that we use the free ones my Husband gets from the Auto Parts stores.

Normally I buy a cow calendar, with a different cow each month. A few days ago, mom picked me up a freebie from her insurance company. One insurance company, MetLife, uses Snoopy as their mascot. This year's calendar features scenic locations, such as Devil's Tower and Carlsbad Caverns, with Snoopy drawn in as "visiting" them. I'll be using it.

Our local theatre sells calendars every year as a fundraiser. They are numbered and each day during the year, a number is drawn and money awarded. Prizes are $20. (daily), $50. (Saturdays), $120. (monthend) and $1000. (yearend). For 2006 they feature pictures of our Friday the 13th gatherings. Maybe I'll win something this year
