I really get annoyed at tailgaters too! When I am tailgaited I too slow down. Recently, I've put my caution lights on for moment. Sometimes this takes care of it, sometimes not. At least I've tried to communicate how dangerous this is.

We had the thread, the Fears of a clown and it was funny. I can't get it to come up.

<The whole concept of slapstick bores me to tears.> Me too! I can't even stand watching Chaplin, although I can see he was gifted. I don't even smile at any sort of slapstick.

I've been hit from behind once, and it's not fun.
I was re-ended in January. I was stopped at a light and I didn't see him coming (for the best, I guess, since I couldn't have gotten out of his way). I got pushed into the car ahead and that broke the momentum. It was very scary though and I am thankful I didn't get hurt.

I wouldn't call tailgaters "annoying", they're bloody dangerous! I've been rear-ended twice - the first time the guy tailgated me for a long time and finally managed to hit me when I had to stop at an intersection. Then he was all worried and concerned, but his car was in much worse shape than mine! The other guy had to change lanes to hit me when I stopped at a red light. He had booze on his breath but I guess the accident scared him sober in a hurry!

Bloody dangerous is right ! Years ago I got rear-ended by a semi truck. It seemed like an especially large semi truck considering that I was at a dead stop in a very small Ford Escort. Yikes, indeed! Luckily, trucking companies have lots of insurance...

Years ago, I was stopped at a red light and had been there for several minutes. I glanced into the rear-view mirror and saw, to my horror, a car coming at me which was obviously going to rear-end me. The driver and his passenger were not looking where they were going - they had their heads together as the driver was lighting his cigarette from his passenger's cigarette. There wasn't anything I could do and nowhere to go. Luckily, they weren't speeding so no-one was hurt.

Wow, we've had some experiences with rear-ended accidents! In accident the 20 year old didn't have a license. It'd been suspended or something. The policeman greeted him by saying, I know you, when he saw him. The guy was driving fast, changing lanes through this main street in town, others said. All of sudden I was hit and pushed forward, then backward. I remember slumping down in my seat. The seat collapsed and that is probably what kept me from going through the windshield (I wasn't wearing a seatbelt. ) I remember being surprised I could get out of my car. He hit me going pretty fast.

A couple of years ago I was coming home from school, with my two kids in the car, on the last school day before Christmas break. The roads were really slippy and my tailgater managed to rear end me even when I didn't hit the brakes. She said she couldn't stop, but that didn't make sense to me as she was impatiently behind me for some distance before she hit me. We all ended up at the chiropractor with mild whiplash. It was a lovely Christmas gift because she had to sit on my rear on icy roads.

Another annoyance - those people who park their vehicle at the end of the row of spaces, beyond the parking area. Today two vehicles had tacked themselves on to the end of a row. Don't they realise that when designing a car park, the designers squeeze in as many spaces as possible? If they end a row in a certain place it is to allow for other vehicles to manouver - if an emergency vehicle needed access it just wouldn't have been possible, the gap was just too small.

I so agree with Taesma. My boss at work has about half a dozen pet phrases at work which he uses and expects as to find them amusing every time. One especially bothers me because it is so rude. "Build a bridge and get over yourself" I mean it is just another way of saying "shut up, what you are saying is unimportant and of no interest" Now I will admit to finding it amusing the first time, by the 50th it was quite aggravating. His other trick is talking in acronyms like TTFN and POETS day. Oh and I agree with just about everything else everyone has said too, especially the escalator comment.. and I will add on to that one as well and my mother is some one who does this and that is people who stand on the left side of the escalator and don't move when we all know that's the overtaking side (I think it is different in other countries). And last of all people who don't use punctuation or construct their sentences properly...

IT basically put the final nail in the coffin as far as I was concerned. Clows have always freaked me out, but after seeing that movie, I was done for as far as they went.

Indie what do mean I'm supposed to be the evil one? Are you trying to insinuate I'm not evil? *Shock* I'll show you how evil I am "Grrrrrrrrrr" see very evil! Hehehe. Yeah I don't think that works anymore what with my fear of spiders, my inability to kill a fly because I feel guilty afterwards and the fact turnip STILL makes me laugh. *giggles*
