(daily tele ) Young Australian of the Year: Trisha Broadbridge whose husband of just a week died in Thailand in the tsunami. She's set up an educational facility and has been mentoring young people in Australia since. ( Senior Australian of the Year: Sally Goold for her work in expanding the number of Aborignal and TSI nurses in the hospital system. Local Hero of the year (is this a new one? ) : Toni Hoffman who was the 'whistle blower' in the Dr Patel cases at Bunderberg Hospital. Can't complain about any of that.
