Here's a big welcome from California, perroja! I am sorry to hear about your knee; it must be very painful. I've dislocated both of my knees several times, so I have some understanding of the pain you are experiencing. I hope it gets better!

Welcome perroja, I can't think of anyone here from Finland so you may be our first, at least in the forums. Have fun and hope the knee gets better soon

Hi everyone
Thank you for the welcoming words.
Today I got the results from the the Xray(They stuff you in a tube, and keep you there for about 30-40 minutes)dont know the english name for thatsort of a scan:Called a magnet scan in finnish.Anyway the anterior ligament and both meniscs broken. So I'll need an operation.Well I already suspected that before getting the results. The good thing about it all is that we got a puppy 2 weeks ago. He's now 9 weeks old and it has been fun watching the older dog and the puppy becoming friends, little by little. It is amazeing how the old dog(2 1/2 years of age)can
treat the little one so gently although
the pup is a bit of a rascal. They are spanish waterdogs both.
The winter is relly on its been between
-15and -25 degrees the past few days.
But spring is soon here,my favourite time of year, when everything wakes up again.

Hi perroja, and welcome to the forums. It's always fascinating to hear about conditions in other parts of the world than our own.
In Britain we refer to the type of treatment you had, as a 'MRI scan'. MRI stands for magnetic resonance imaging, but the full term is rarely used. Like you, I had an MRI scan two years ago following a nasty skiing injury to my knee. It was my first ever injury in many years of skiing, so I can't really complain too much. Although the ligaments were quite badly damaged, the injury responded well enough to physiotherapy and exercise over several months, and the consultant decided not to operate. I still get a few problems though, and suppose eventually I may have to have an operation, but for the present regular exercise seems to work!

HI aramis
Yes MRI is the correct medical term for the procedure over here also.
Having the got the results of mine,I went to see a specialist on monday. He relly made my day, saying that no major operation is needed. The ligaments where only partially broken so he said that they will heal just fine.A piece of the menisc maybe need to be removed but that's just a minor procedure. The problem just now is that because of the pain an the swelling, the knee is quite stiff, also a lot of the quadriceps muscle is gone.So I'm meeting with a physiotherapist 2times a week to get some ,help with reegaining the mobility
in the joint. Also need to train the muscles back in shape. But in all,the near future is looking much brighter than two weeks ago.I.m relly looking forward to beeing able to go on training with my dog.I.ve trained him for almost two yers now and the goal for this season is to táke part in our first rescue test.We train to look for
people who are lost .Maybe someday we can do some good in a real situation.
