Dragonkin, sounds like your short story would turn out to be a great book.

Good Luck!!

Anybody out there enjoy reading and writing enough to go through the process of writing a book/novel?

What is your book about? It can be interesting to see what others have been or are planning on writing.

I'm working on a book about vampire folklore in world history. Ten chapters, ten geochronological case studies, plus one "wrapup" chapter on fakelore and a gender-related problem that needs far more rigorous study than I want to give it now - maybe in the sequel if this books sells.

I love to read and write, but I keep finding myself with other things to do. My best friend started writing a novel last year, and I believe he is still working on it, but I don't think he's going to try to get it published or anything, atleast not for now.

I'm well into writing my first book/novel thingy, but I keep getting sidetracked. Methinks 'twill take years to finish, but that's ok. I'd like to get it published eventually, but at the moment I just enjoy writing when I get a moment.

Soooo, what I have are a few chapters, a bunch of notebooks stuffed to the gills, and a load of loose bits of paper clogging up my room...and they are all really important

I know what you mean, I hope I don't lose my notebook. There is no way I can rewrite all the stuff I have, even though its only a few pages.

I've written a few short stories over the years. I have a hard time writing anything over 15-20 pages, unless it's manditory.

Maybe someday when I don't have a million other things to do (university and work add up to a million don't they?) I'll actually sit down and write one out. I have a lot of ideas, but I can't put them on paper, mostly because I don't have the time.

I'm 13 and I have started a book set on a South African farm. The family living there is told they need to go to the city and live there for a while. When in the city the farmer's son is bullied. It's a story of how he falls in love and is bullied, but carries on persevering until he can better the bullies...

Don't have time to write much, but this is my first novel. Don't know if it'll get published, but I'm hoping so.

I started writing as way to cope with 9/11 and everything that happened after that especially with the American Special Forces. I finished my first attempt in March 2004 and began immediately on a second one. Halfway through the second I realized I could merge the two stories and now I'm working on my third attempt. The story revolves around a family of special forces operatives serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. The story is told from the main view point of the daughter who is a civilian and working with the special forces. My biggest struggle in writing it is getting my facts straight. I'll cross the bridge of getting it published only once I'm satisfied with what I've written.

I am writing one right now. Kinda at least. It's about two men and a woman who discover they're meant for a greater purpose. They go through many hardships, but then find out who they really are. A soon to be thriller.

I write frequently, usually short novels, but I've never thought about publishing. My friends write too: one likes short fiction and another is a poet. Currently I'm working on a historical fiction set back in 1840s antebellum America and something about an arranged marriage, which is something I've always wanted to try.

hi. i have a self-published poetry book with the Booksurge company in American. it is a collection of poems i have written from the age of 10 to 15 inclusive. it can also be found on Amazon.com.
It is a very expensive and difficult market to get into though and has cost me 250 English pounds to publish, with very little royalties (usually 10%).
As my writing has improved and altered since my first book, i wish to do a second edition, removing some original poems and adding others. xx

My stories sound fine when I speak them out loud to my own ears but when I write them down they get lost somewhere in the middle. I did start writing a Star Trek story at one point which would have been a new series. It revolved around the generations after Next Generation, DS9 and Voyager. I had people like Molly O'Brien, Alexander (Worf's Son), Naomi wildman (non-borg child from Voyager), and a few extra ones like children for Riker and Troi and Ezri and Bashiar (DS9 Doctor).
I never finished it though and I'd have to start from scratch again.

Well, I have one book published with a small press, and I'm waiting to hear back from my publisher on the second. Both are sequels to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice (there is a niche market for such things).
