Did you end up going, George?

A good dose of the flu and a couple of family dramas (wasn't a great weekend, really ) meant I couldn't really get into it all. I'm glad the Broncos got up for Webcke, got a soft spot for him - otherwise I can't really comment until I watch the game again and this time take notice.

Pre-game entertainment. *sigh* I don't llike this format at all, get a couple of names to sing a song or two. Boooring. BEst thing was Sophie Delazio being there - mark my words, that girl is destined to do great things, I think.

(off topic, but Greg? Can you see paytv at all? ESPN 5:00 this arvo is the 2006 national scrabble championships (usa).)

Sorry, mate, I missed this thread- I have been at the State Scrabble championships for the last three days. American Scrabble is a lot different to Australian (and UK) Scrabble, but would still be great to watch. Did you tape it, by any chance?

Back on topic- I sort of watched the GF in a Sports Club buffet, but they had the bloody sound turned off!

I was only following Melbourne because the people I was with were Queenslanders.

(Oh, thanks for using me as a model for your pumpkin carving effort! )

Back off topic: I knew they used a different dictionary but are the rules any different? Nope, sorry, didn't tape it (it's pretty much stuck on Nick Jr that time of the day!) but I'll see if it's on again and will see what I can do.

Sound off?? These Scrabblers aren't much for sports, huh?

Pretty good pumpkin, huh? If I could have found a wig the resemblance wouldn't be so startling ...

I agree wholeheartedly!

Nice to see a truly decent bloke go out on a high, but, as I live in Queensland and DO NOT support the Bronco's, I'm sooooooo pleased I don't currently have a TV, and there's nobody twisting my arm to put the radio on either!

All I can say is . . . Dragons To Win In 2007!

The rules are similar, but the US dictionary is about 20,000 words smaller than ours. They also play 'double challenge', which means that if you challenge a word unsuccessfully, you lose your turn. I feel that that rule is very inhibiting, but will listen to any justification.

Re the club.. we were not in the same club, but made a dash for my place at half time. We saw about the last 10 minutes.

And why on earth would you need a wig? A piece of low-shag carpet would suffice.

Um, can we borrow your coach?

nope, stayed at home and watched it with the outlaws, all chooks supporters. They had to support someone, so they chose Brisbane.
I was the lone voice of reason, I supported the Dragons.

Looks like this thread will go into hibernation for a few months- only the Tri-Nations to come.

As usual, everyone is saying everyone else should be favourite (why DO they do that?). The first game is on Saturday night, and should see the Aussies make mincemeat of the underdone Kiwis.

I will now hand this over to our Timaru Kid.. where are you, Howie?

Oh, Copago, do you still go to that poker site? Have not seen you there for a while..

I think the Kiwis will be the team to beat - although they've got a couple injury problems with Solomona and Willimas. Poms lost someone important too, Johnston I think his name was but I don't know that much about him to know if it will make a difference to them.

I just hope they're good, close games and once again I don't really care who wins. Tri-nations and ICC Trophy - heaven for the sports tragic.

(Don't really play at that site much anymore, I'll PM you the one I go to mostly now. Won't have much of a chance to play once I move back to the station though, most of my stuff is there, just gotta finish up work)

Hands up who loved seeing Willie Mason get shoulder charged like that? If anyone deserves a black eye it's him and it was a beauty!

I'm with the opinion of "it's a war cry, expect some back" but Willie Mason had to make up some cock and bull story about why he was swearing at them. Sigh.

Now that was a game of football.

It was exhausting watching it!
