New York has just had its biggest snowfall since records began in the mid 19th century, yet there's been hardly anything reported about it. Even CNN and CBS have given it hardly a mention. In a single blizzard, over 68 centimetres of snow fell in parts of New York, and much of the north east U.S.A was similarly effected.
Is anyone from this area? How are the people of New York and surrounding area coping with conditions which would bring most other countries to a complete standstill!
Hats off once again to the people of New York.

Hats off indeed! I know where I would be if that happened here! It all sounds just unbearable.

The cold snap in NE USA got TV coverage down under- the temperature numbers quoted were unbelievable to me. (But then again, anything below zero C (32F) seems silly

I was chatting to a person in Edmonton one day, and we calculated that the temperature difference was exactly 100C- it was 45 here, and Minus 55 there!

It seems indecent to watch them struggling as I've lived through five years of East Coast storms and now I'm living here in California where it hit about 72 farenheit yesterday and we were eating outside in cafes. I'm sure we'll get some rain here soon.

I remember the winter of 93 in Philadelphia when the troopers shut down the roadways except for emergency vehicles and people raided the grocery stores for sugar, salt and flout.
The people without power were going to start chopping down their dining room sets and burning them.
