Anthony Hopkins is going to reprise his role as Hannibal Lector, but Jodie Foster won't be back as Clarice Starling in the proposed sequel to "Silence Of The Lambs".
I read in the paper that Cate Blanchett is at the top of the list for female leads.Julianne Moore is another contender.

For some reason I think I might like to see Julia Roberts as the FBI agent (don't ask me why, and she isn't even being considred).I just think that she and Hopkins might generate interesting chemistry and she is a contrast to Foster.

Who would you like to see opposite Hopkins in the sequel, if you were casting the film?

I am going to see the movie tonight if the lines aren't too long. I play to eat first because I hear that some of scenes might be a bit bloody.

I have the unabridged book on tape. It is a very taut drama, but very predictable. I enjoyed (that doesn't seem like the correct word!) it thoroughly....until I got to the end. The ending of the book/tape was ridiculous. Totally unbelieveable. In fact, after finishing it I was angry to have wasted so many hours listening...only to be so let down.

I understand that the ending was changed for the film version. Good thing.

I totally agree with Vendome. I finished reading Hannibal a couple of weeks ago and I was so mad when I got to the end that I threw the book down! Itīs just ridiculous, so Iīm glad they changed it in the movie.

A few nights ago, canīt remember where, I caught an interview with Anthony Hopkins. When asked if he would consider playing Hannibal Lecter again in another sequel, he said he already had an idea for a follow-up storyline.

As for this one, looks like I might have to wait a couple of months till itīs in my neck of the woods. You have no idea how upset I am about this! I was just in Miami and was trying to get my flight changed just so I could stay for the opening tonight.
Oh well.

I read the book last year and I loved it. I wasn't angered by the end...I felt it was wild, bizarre, and totally unrealistic, but I didn't get angry about it. I just felt like Thomas Harris is more sympathetic to Lector than he is to Starling thru the whole book and at the end...he wanted Lector to have what he wanted...

So...today I went and saw the movie! It's very good. Follows the story of the book to a T except for the end. Few complaints...VERY little screen time of Mason Verger, Mason's sister isn't in the movie AT ALL and I found her to be very interesting in the book...and the whole big climax in the book involving Mason's plan for revenge is all of about 3 minutes of screen time in the movie. The book is chock full of story and they have a really hard time squeezing it all into the movie. My mother went with me and because she hasn't read the book she totally didn't get some things and I had to tell her all the details from the book after the movie was over.

Good things about the movie...Hopkins is in perfect form. Ray Liotta plays his part very well. The whole story line in Italy with Pazzi is done very well. Julianne Moore does a great job as Starling, but really lacks the warmth that Jodie brought to the role.

The ending they chose to use instead is actually pretty okay.

wow, eyeball. you and i must have seen two totally different movies. i knew before i even saw "hannibal" that julianne moore can't hold a candle to jodie foster, and i didn't think moore's portrayal of clarice starling came anywhere near capturing the essence of foster's portrayal. i think this would have been a totally different and better movie had foster reprised her role. but, now, upon seeing the movie, i can understand why she avoided it at all costs.
i must admit, i have not read the book yet, but it is on my list of things to do. i understand the book ending and the movie ending are totally different, but can the book ending be any more bizarre and over the top as the movie ending? i will be curious to find out.
"silence of the lambs" is probably one of my all time favorite movies. i found "hannibal" to be extremely painful to sit through. i was disappointed, to say the least.

I finally got to see Hannibal, and I have to say I liked it...for the most part.

For one, I really wish Jodie Foster would have played Clarice again. I donīt particularly like Julianne Moore and didnīt think she pulled off the character very well. Also, I thought that Hannibal Lecter was more comical than we would expect him to be.
The movie itself was good, although very different from the book.
But I definitely liked the alternative ending far better; the ending in the book was far-fetched to say the least!

I saw Hannibal awhile ago and I thought it was very good, I do agree that Jodie Foster was a better Clarice but Ithink Julianne Moore does a fine job. My favorite actor EVER is Anthony Hopkins so maybe that's why I like it so much I've never read the book so I'm assuming it's just as good, hopefully i'll read the book soon
