I guess this a rather obscure request, but does anyone know any relatively authentic recipes from the Orkneys? I thought if anyone knew, someone here in our nice little international community would.
My brothers are preparing some Scottish food for an international food festival at their church and since our family is from the Orkney Islands, they thought they'd try to do something from there. I know a lot of the food is similar to the rest of Scotland, but something more regional would be nice.
I've done some Googling and about the only thing I can find is Clapshot--which is ok, but they're still interested in something more.

Any ideas, oh helpful ones?

For real bere bannocks, try this recipe:

* 50g of beremeal
* 50g of plain flour
* 1 tsp. baking soda
* 1 tsp. cream of tartar
* Pinch of salt
* 60ml water
* Mix dry ingredients thoroughly and add water to make a stiff dough. Roll out to a 15cm round. Cook on a hot, ungreased girdle for five minutes or so until both sides are brown and the middle is cooked.
* Consume with plenty of Orkney butter and cheese.

The pork fillet recipe from there looks good to me.

Thanks for the link, Sue.
I had tried that site, but couldn't find a link for archives for some reason.

Bere bannocks sound good, but I think I'd have a bit of trouble getting beremeal around here. At least, in time for this dinner.
