The latest Amazing Race has started (in the US and Canada at least) and I'm glad the race is around the world again. Has anyone developed any favourites yet?

It started here too on Thursday. I liked the Mum and daughter team but to tell the truth I can't even remember any names yet - that always takes a few episodes . I was surprised that we started more or less when you guys did - we're usually way behind but I think we will gradually slip behind with the Commonwealth Games on the same channel.

I'm so glad the show is back and even happier that they returned to the original format. Sure, there's lots to do in the good ole US of A but it's hardly as exciting as the things they have to go through just to get to another country. "Getting there" is half the battle and if you're driving everywhere in a camper that cuts down on the excitement factor.

I like everyone so far. The only person I can see that could be problem so far is "Lake" who reminds me a tad of Johnathan from a few installments back, although he was much harder on Victoria than Lake has been on his wife. He could use a little more patience. The 'Frosties' are entertaining but I wish they would dial down their excitement a bit. Every time they find a clue they start hooting and hollering - that has to consume so much energy! I have to hand it to the female who put together the bike with her long distance boyfriend, she really endured way too much from the onlookers. It seemed that it was all her boyfriend could do to stay on task and not knock someone out. Good for them for sticking to it. The Good-Time Guys were a lot nicer than I expected them to be, they were even supportive of the Goofballs from San Diego, who also are very fun to watch. The Geeks are cute, they always took time to hold hands and share some love throughout their travels. I was a little disappointed to see the first team that got eliminated didn't make it further, but someone had to go. Overall it hasn't gotten cut-throat yet and everyone is still friendly. Let's see how long that lasts...

We think pretty much alike but the Frosties should be renamed the Screamers. Lake does remind you of Johnathon doesn't he.

Where we live, Amazing Race is shown on 2 networks CTV (Canadian) and CBS (US), so if CTV shows the Commonwealth Games, we can still see the Race on CBS. We have the best of both worlds

I like CTV too. I remember years ago if I missed seeing the first airing of a program I could probably catch it soon after on CTV. The other good thing about that network is that it managed to combine the best programming from all the major US networks into one channel, so no jumping around was necessary.

I taped it but the tape ran out with the girls trying to put together a motor bike, so I have no idea at this stage who was eliminated.

Our commonwealth games will be on a different channel to that showing the amazing race, so I guess you must have a composite channel Copago.

I like the way we are getting it nearly as soon as the US, much better than already known who has won. I see survivor has been going over a month in the US, but we have not seen anything of it, and it is so tempting to open the other thread.

Do you need to change the title to this one to include spoilers?

Okay sorted it - the games are on nine - no need for me to panic then The Amazing Race and Lost! are safe for a few weeks (until that the decide to take them off for a few weeks over the non rating Easter period like last year.)

Here are my thoughts on the season judging from the first episode:
I think the "hippies" are going to go far, but not win it. Lake will get cocky and do something to make he and his partner go out. The "screamers"/"frosties" won't make it too far, which I think is good. They kind of got on my nerves. The older couple will only make it about half way. (How many times can you walk past a clue box? Then say that it moust have been moved!) The long distance daters will be in the final 3.
This is all I'm willing to wager on right now.

Frosties are out. My quiz on the first two legs has been submitted.
I think that the hippies are hilarious. I'm rooting for them all the way.

I still can't figure out why the teams would get someone to lead them somewhere and then, figuring the people don't know where they're going, drive off and ask someone else.

Looks like I was right afterall. *sigh* Seven take off Lost and TAR to be replaced by a really crappy movie because they don't want the competition of the games over on nine. I have just sent off an email to seven telling them just what I thought.

I really don't understand channels and their ratings periods and whatever. It seems to me that they pull shows whenever they feel like it. Just keep the good shows on!

I haven't started watching the Amazing Race yet. I tend to watch when there are about 6 or so teams left. I'm surprised and pleased that we're getting it around the same time as the US!

OKay so tonight the older women/sisters are gone and I gotta say that in all of TAR series (and remember this includes Jonathon and Victoria AND the Guidos AND the wrestling couple) I have never been so happy to see a pair get eliminated. If I heard "oh my God" or "Whoooooo" once more I was going to Brazil myself to track them down and do really unspeakable things to them.

The whole hippy thing seems a little put on for me. Haven't warmed to them at all ... Im' still liking the mother and daughter and Monica and Joe strangely enough.

The Nerds are gone now, I will have to switch allegience to the hippies, I don't understand how the older couple are still in there when they keep walking past the clue posts.

I wish they would of showed the Hippies begging for money. All it showed was them mentioning $300 after they arrived in Perth. They had almost twice as much as the other teams got for that leg of the race. If it comes down to a foot race in the finale, the Frat boys will win. Smart money is on the Hippies. They get along with the people of every country they visit.

I am with you there ASA. I also have had to switch allegiance to the hippies from the nerds.

I wish 7 would catch back up to the American showings however I read somewhere that they intend to keep it 2 weeks behind in case the American showing is cancelled (apparently they only receive it thursday morning and don't have time to change the programming)

I know what you mean. With MoJo gone, I like all the final 3 teams. I think I want the hippies to win though.

I just finished watching the finale, a very satisfying end to a great race. I won't ruin it for anyone but I will say it couldn't have ended better, suspense 'til the end!

Excellent ending for an excellent season.

Season 10 will air in the fall at its new timeslot on Sunday nights. I'm not happy about the move...

The final was almost the way I liked (teams 2 and 3 reversed would have been perfect)

Thank goodness for VCR's if the timeslot is changed (again)
