"Matewan" (Chris Cooper, James Earl Jones, Mary McDonnell, 1987) has a clothesline scene. Can't remember if a woman is shown hanging the clothes, though.

Corinna, Corinna with Whoopi Goldberg. True, the scene isn't romantic, but Whoopi is hanging out the laundry. Also Places In the Heart with Sally Field.

More later if I think of them

I recall one from that later version of "The Postman Always Rings Twice" w/ Jessica Lange - am not sure if it was romantic but the whole film was charged with passion. Nefarious as it was...

"Stand By Me" has a very poignant hanging laundry scene in the beginning of the film. Mother of a dead son hanging laundry while the surviving son watches and a voice-over narrates the situation.

Big Fish, with Ewan McGregor. Young Sandra Bloom is hanging laundry when young Ed Bloom comes back home from the Korean war.

Wasn't Ada (Nicole Kidman) hanging laundry on the line at some point in Cold Mountain?

There's a scene in The Color Purple with Whoopi Goldberg's character Celie hanging laundry with her sister Nettie talking about how she doesn't know how to fight, only to stay alive. This follows a discussion of how Nettie can no longer live at home because their father keeps sexually abusing her...

Not very romantic, I know.

Isn't there a scene is Pearl Harbour where a woman is hanging laundry and the jets are flying overhead? It's not romantic, but it's something...

The Wizard Of OZ has Auntie Em either hanging out clothes on the line...or feeding the pigs while talking to Dorothy. Can't remember which, though.

Funny how I've caught myself trying to think of more 'clothesline scenes' at odd times during the day since this thread showed up.

I've been doing the same, ktstew, lol

In Where the Heart Is, with Natalie Portman and Ashley Judd, there's a scene where Lexie and Novalee are talking about Novalee's current life situation while Lexie is hanging laundry.

Again, not a romantic scene, but in the movie Ray with Jamie Fox, there is a scene or two where his mother is hanging laundry in his flashbacks to his childhood before he went blind.

In "Raggedy Man" Sissy Spacek's character is hanging clothes and the sailor, played by Eric Roberts calls for her to come fly a kite with him.

In "Summer of '42" Hermie stares at the bras and panties hanging on a clothesline, but no one was hanging the clothes.
