Wow. That's two people on the same day, and both less than 50 years of age. Kirby Puckett was the other. I have his in the sports forum, as he played for the Twins.

Oh how very sad that she didn't beat Cancer. I so admired her for her strength and her commitment and Love for her husband.
I feel very bad for their son.
What a sad day.

I was very sad to learn of her passing. It is such a shame that an amazing woman such as she is no longer around. The only comfort I find is that she is now with her husband, and I can just imagine him welcoming her with open arms and walking towards her.

Very sad that her 13 year old will have to grow to adulthood without the benefit of both of his parents, but I am sure he is a strong, wonderful and caring young man, and will grow into a beautiful and loving gentleman.

What a short and tragic life she had, and the strain she was under must have been overwhelming at times, yet she always kept a brave and cheerful public face.
Let's hope her son can eventually get over the triple tragedies of his short life, seeing his famous father incurably injured, and dying a few years later, then his beautiful and loving mother dying so young.

I was so genuinely saddened when I heard this news. What a remarkably courageous and giving woman she was. And so many have benefited from the wonderful work she did.

Quote:

Senator Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said of Reeve: "I thought that after everything that she had gone through with Chris that she would have time to smell the flowers and be in the sun. But apparently that was not meant to be."

I, too, would have wished that for her. Her life had been filled with such pain and anguish. She deserved a long future in which she could have found peace and happiness and some sense of being carefree. There is something so unfair about her being robbed of that.

What a tragedy for her family, particularly for her 13 year old son. I believe that Dana's mother died of ovarian cancer in the past year. So, within the past year and a half, her son Will has lost his grandmother and both of his parents. My heart really goes out to him and to the rest of the family. Such tragic losses, particularly so close together, are very hard to bear.

Dana fought so hard for continued stem cell research and ways to improve the lives of those with disabilities. I would like to see her memory honored by the passing of a bill allowing for unrestricted stem cell research, and government funding of such research, named for both Dana and Christopher Reeve.
