Okay, now that it's all up and running, seeing Leau will be coming from the other side of the world it looks as though the meetup will be in Brisbane (venue to be decided) in July.

I have been to a few of these do's before and they are a hoot. So if you live in Brisbane or thereabouts or even Sydney or Wilcannia for that matter, either post here or let me know by PM. There will be a couple of spare beds at my place for any out-of-towners. (This means you ozzz. )

Should I bring a pillow? Or just a XXXX?

I will be there!

I think it's a vitamin supplement. At least that's what Google has led me to believe.

Exit, Ozzz, looking forward to seeing the face that goes with the voice!

Berocca is packed full of vitamin B and is the ideal compliment to have greasy breakfast the morning after the night before.

Marmite is also full of vitamin B - perhaps we ought to send a supply of that.

Meagan, Leau,

Approximate dates please. July is a big month - a ball park date would be useful.

As to suggesting we need Marmite - what sacrilege - Vegemite will be the order of the day Sue!

Well now, this one I might actually be able to make! Lord knows it can't be a bad thing to get out of Canberra in July, however briefly. Round about then we're usually forgetting what the sun looks like...

But yes, a narrowing down of dates would help - with my luck it'll be exactly the time my Brisbane family will be down here for school holidays ...anyway, I hereby signal my request to be considered a definate possible maybe!

At this stage it will be either the weekend of 15/16 or 22/23 of July and I should have a firm date by the end of the week.

ing - you have piked in the past, this time there will be no excuses. I have a spare bedroom which you may have to share with ozzz and in the words of Gats YIKES! Seriously if you are looking for a place to stay I do have a spare room.

The same goes for any interstaters who would like to come.

No such luck but I should be able to rope in some poor sod off the street.

*Gatsby is crossing his fingers that this bash occurs on the w/e of the 22nd. Not that I can come, of course, but can think of no better a birthday present than an Aussie phone call from all my pals around then (and my Dutch ones, too, by all means )!*

Yes Master Exit, I know I wimped out of the last one, but I hope I might actually make this one. I figure if I give them all enough notice, my various family members might be able to manage to put off and/or deal with any crises which emerge without me...thanks for your incredibly generous offer; YIKES indeed to sharing a room with anyone, on their behalf rather than mine (apparently I snore, though how he can hear me above all his nightly orchestrations is beyond me!) Anyway...

Gats, very nice shameless plug for the birthday. You'll be even more excited at the prospect of talking to Exit's "poor sod off the street"!

Is that a hint, Gats?

This idea came from someone who said, "I have a plan so cunning you could brush your teeth with it!" (Whatever that means )

What about the idea of a 'City Cat' crawl? The idea is to travel along the river getting off at selected destinations for a quiet drink and then moving on.

That way we don't have to worry about transport and will give our visitors (and locals) great views of the city etc.

There are no State of Origin games etc on 22 July so I reckon it would please us just as much as Gats if we could wish him many happy returns on 22 July.

We should have no trouble finding enough lifts to get to base camp. If everyone likes this idea then I will put an itinerary together.

Apart from anyone being affected by sea-sickness, that's a great idea!

Glad someone else brought up sea-sickness (no pun intended), although if it's not actual waves I should be fine...

[so tell us, Ing, is there any low-level annoying physical condition you don't suffer from? No, well, as long as I bathe regularly and keep taking the tablets...and stay away from felines and grass...and high places...and anything sharper than a banana...and bananas...no, just kidding, I've got no problems with bananas whatsoever! ]

Sounds like a lovely plan, Exit! I don't get seasick unless I'm out on the sea for hours on end, so count me in!

This is a river guys, you don't tend to get many waves on rivers. They also have a small front and back deck if you feel the need for fresh air.
In any event you wouldn't be on for any more than five-eight minutes at a time before alighting to quench your thirsts.

"I have a plan so cunning you could brush your teeth with it!"

I got narked once here for obscure plagiarism, so I'll hand this quote back to Blackadder.

Found a Belgium Beer House in Brisbane City yesterday. It's not so weird that we have such a place in this great city, it's weird because it's across the road from where I work and it took six months for me to discover it! Leau would be well versed in the offerings on tap, but to a XXXX branded Aussie it's all strange and sinister. All beers are 12% alcohol and register silly names like Trappisters Rochefort and Artevelde Grand Cru. Oz, you have to try the cherry flavoured beer. Beer for the mind, they say (not). We have to stop in there for one.

Looking forward to a catch up with the usual suspects and meeting [having a pint with] Leau.

Cheers till then
